With a GT700 package onto the GT2 (would take a day) the CGT is absolutely slower. You'll never get the sound, though, and probably never get the same HP (all the time) unless you're on the EVO-Race file with MS109 in the tank with your GT2.
With cars like this, it isn't who's faster, really, it's "how do you make the power" and what kind of feelings does the car impart to you? The CGT is an absolutely magical experience. For many, it remains the ultimate. The 996TT is becoming a "mass affluent" vehicle so it takes a bit more to excite people. Sort of like saying that an LS7 Corvette beats a Rolls Royce. The Rolls Royce guy couldn't care less.
