[quote=SpeedYellow;1851933]You get LOWER intake temperatures with MASSIVE intercoolers. To suggest "air friction" in a pressurized system (as a cause of increased intake temperature) in a system that REMAINS at a static pressure (as is the nature of turbocharged engines) is to misunderstand the nature of the beast entirely.

I was refering to stock vs a better flowing system not saying that higher intake temps are only because of 90deg bend in the plenum.

Keeping all else equal you should see a marginal difference in the intake temp.

Every 90degree bend decreases volcity by 50%, so you will get some friction and an increase in temp for the same given boost.
How much? i havent got a clue- perhaps -0.05deg

A N/A system would actually see a drop below atmosphere in a restricted system and freeing it up would bring it back, you can apply the same to a turbo system where you would also see a drop in pressure but the turbo will then work 'harder' to still meet your wastegate setting but deliver a higher temp (and so a lower density or air).

Intercoolers will lower the temps but they do that anyway...

You don't lose 50% velocity with every 90 degree bend. Again, it assumes that your intake system has to "recharge" with every engine revolution and that the turbochargers aren't creating enough "static pressure" in the system to refill between compression strokes. I could design an intake system with *25* 90-degree bends in it and have no "flow issues" because the system was pressurized. Now if I decreased the SIZE of the pipe by 50% at each 90-degree bend I would have a completely different problem.

IPD Turbo Plenum

Speed Yellow, you can say whatever you would like but Protomotive and Evolution are some of our biggest plenum dealers and install the IPD plenum on almost all of their big turbo motor packages. The IPD Plenum provided 30+ hp at the wheels, Period! The plenum work even better with forced induction than naturally aspirated applications, Period! Improved flow is improved flow, under boost or vacuum, it's always beneficial.

30 horsepower for about a grand and doesn't void a warranty. All for about $30 per pony. That's a better horsepower per dollar return than any other performance mod, software included. We have installed (and shipped) countless IPD Turbo plenum and have never had one return with our satisfaction or money back guarantee policy. We even sell them back to German tuners in the Porsche motherland.

The patented IPD plenum works VERY well. Don't be fooled by the imitation plenums. IPD has invested countless hours of R & D and RSS wouldn't sell them if they didn't provide the power we claim.

Cheers,
Greg

You have to have at least GT 30's and close to 700 to the wheels to benefit. And Todd told me that himself.

IPD Plenum Response

We've seen the gains multiple times. Todd uses them on his big turbo engines but they also provide 30+ hp on stock cars. Most people know that your greatest gains are more realized with your early mod installs than with your your late mod installs. Evolution MS only gets 20hp when they install the plenum on their 700 kit. I can only say what we've seen a hundred times over the past few years. Why don't you take the plenum challenge and try it yourself. If you don't like it send it back for a full return.

Have a nice weekend,
Greg

I am not doubting they will help but I think it they help with big turbo cars.for me to believe it makes 30 HP on stock TT i would have to be at the dyno pulls myself to see it.

I am looking at the IPD Plenum for my 04 996TT X50. Can someone please tell me which plenum will fit my car. The 70mm or the 75mm. I would prefer to put the 75mm if possible. Will it fit.

They will both fit - the 70 mm is a direct bolt-on. The 75 mm requires a 75 mm throttle body as well, and maybe other parts such as an adapter from the y-pipe to the throttle body.
