Help...PLEASE ASAP!
I agree with disconnecting the MAF. But first try the battery trick. If you disconnect the MAF you can not damage the car, just do not red line. I say MAF or bad plugs. Does it sputter at 4KRPM? Let me know what happens.
Ok, I'll try the battery trick...I actually pulled the battery cable for about 30seconds or so, that usually did the trick in my other cars but this is my first Porsche so I'll try the 15mins.
It doesn't sputter at 4k if I can get it to rev up there. Usually if it revs up there I can rev it a few times then it looses it and stalls out. I'll do the battery test first thing tomorrow, if that doesn't work I'll pull the MAF plug and see where we are. The car got new plugs not long ago like Sept. of 07 well less than 10k miles ago, I have the maint. records that the previous owner gave me. I'll go through them again, but I know it got a new MAF and new plugs not long ago. But it is a stock MAF and from what I've searched here on the threads the stock MAF does not do well with cars 500hp+ right? We will see tomorrow. Like I said I'll have to go back to my parents house where it sits...in the drive way! I gave it a FULL DETAIL Saturday night and today it decides to rain for 3 minutes....it hasn't rained in like 2 months! WTH!

Sounds like a boost hose is off somewhere, that's what would give you rough running especially if you try and gun it! Check your hoses running to Intercoolers, especially the ones underneath.
MAF it is....
Dropped the oldest kid to school then checked ont he car, pulled the negative batt wire for about 20 mins, same result.
So I pulled the MAF plug and she started up and idled fine, reved fine...took it up the street and it was ok...with the exception of the infamous ABS/PSM lights that I guess annoys more than a few people here.
So, the million dollar question now is what kind of MAF should I get? Another stock...is it Bosch? or a Hitachi? I read some threads where the guys with the Evolution tunning are running the hitachi MAF but are constantly getting the ABS/PSM lights.
Have any of you gone back to the stock box and had any luck keeping these things a little more reliable? the MAFs that is. Anyone running a stock box and a different air cleaner?
Thanks

Thanks guys for the input, I think we have troubleshot this down to the MAF.
WOODSTER I'm going to call Mike in a little while about the one they carry, thank you.
Now my question is how far can I drive my car without the MAF hooked up? I know art4iza said it won't hurt the car to drive as long as I don't redline, but how far/long can I drive it until I can get a replacement? I seriously need to get it back to my place and get it in the garage, so should I be able to make that journey of about 20 miles without the MAF plugged in? Am I going to foul the plugs or anything like that? Please advise. Also what are you guys paying for stock/aftermarket MAFs? Thanks

New MAP installed yesterday and all is well! Thanks again guys for the help. I have the gt700 package that had the 1st gen v-flow and from what I understand the 2nd gen V-flows have a new tube with a billet aluminum lip that is much better as far as the MAF problems. I called Mike at EVO and he is sending me a new tube ASAP. Hopefully this will keep things running smooth. Anyone with the 2nd gen V-flow have many probs with MAFs?
Again, Thanks for the help with this guys... This is my first P-car and ahhh to be a newbie again...Priceless...well actually really expensive :P
