An accident.........hmmmmm.........well, I guess there isn't any doubt that any lawyer wouldn't have a field day with that one!!

I don't know...
I haven't considered the accident issue. I simply considered performance. At the time of purchase of my TUV Yokos, my only other choice were the Contis. I chose the Yokos due to previous experience with that manufacturer and a more favorable tread pattern.

I guess there is a certain risk from the legality in a worst case scenario and i guess it becomes a matter of the risk you are willing to live with.

Chad,
If you are looking for an 18, how about these?

Pirelli P-Zero Corsa

225/40 ZR18 Y
235/40 ZR18 Y
255/35 ZR18 Y
265/35 ZR18 Y
285/35 ZR18 Y
285/30 ZR18 Y
295/30 ZR18 Y
315/30 ZR18 Y

Although wet performance is probably not that great, the dry perfomance must be stellar!!

Ken,

They would be lickin their chops in my case. I love my MPSC's for the street. Killer Angel doen't see rain or snow. If there was much rain or any snow she would be one of the slowest tt's out there.

Ken,

I have found the MPSC's to offer better traction on the turbo. They take a little longer to come up to temperature and definitely wear better.

we installed one set on a member's GT3 here. the tire is superior in the dry condition & holding up very well. at the same day on track we has PS Cup & Corsa as well. i didn't drive the car but i ride in it. tire feels good.

Jack(LA) drove the car & he might have better write up.

I drove that car too. Nice grip with little side wall flex. Felt good, but I'm not sure that it is any better than the Corsa.

cjv is right, having run both Corsa and MPSC, the Cups' dry grip is definitely a cut above the rest. But you MUST warm them up before getting on the throttle!

The new Dunlops are supposed to be great-- Corsa level performance with better wear!

The Dunlops are DOT approved and work great on my GT3 whether it's street or track usage. Having run all three DOT tires (albeit on different cars), IMHO,I'd rank the Cups best and the Dunlops slightly better than the Corsas in the dry. Factoring in wet conditions, both the Dunlop and Corsa tires are significantly better than the Cups.

Jack,

You have a GT3 as well? When did you get it, and what's your overll impression (as well as compare/contrast against GT2)? Also, don't you have a CS coming? I saw Watt's comment on Fchat that you refused delivery of one.

David: Got the GT3 a few months ago primarily for track usage. If I could only have one, I'd pick the GT2. You may find thisdiscussion/thread interesting, since a few owners of both express their opinions. Colm's view pretty much sums up my thoughts on the comparison of the GT2/3 cars.

As for the CS, the car came in with the wrong colored interior --some screw up with the ordering process. Luckily, it wasn't my dealer's fault (a mistake at either FNA or the factory), so Ferrari is building me another one. Hopefully, this one will be right.

Going from Conti's to the Dunlop's reduced my lap times by approx 2 seconds. But the tires are REALLY soft - I have two hours on the tires and I doubt I can get another two hours out of them.

Moving to slicks.....................

Hey to Jack!

As soon as my Pirelli's wear out, I am going to the Super Sport Race tire for the street. But, for next year's track events, I am going to Dunlop slicks. Here is a link to a distributor for Dunlop tires.

Have a look for yourself. Tire Rack
They are DOT legal, and we have them. Check them out:

Sizes and pricing:

By the way, Sasco's price is WAY above ours!

I don't have any info on them being any good. At this point in the year, it will probably be next year before we start getting any good feedback. If anyone has any, I'd love to hear your experiences.
