That'll be a nice car, except for that f-ing i-drive. Not to rob the thread, but wasn't the original M6 the first of the "M" cars back in the early 80's? I know it was the first M car I ever drooled on....er, saw. Was "M" always in house at BMW or was it ever a third party company such as AMG?

M1 (moment of silence- an all time fave) was the first "M." Then BMW started to roll out the M1 engine into the 5 and 6 series (mind must be slipping, as I cannot remember if the M5 was first. I think the M6 was first...). Dayam, what an engine. M is BMW's motorsports group, and part of BMW (always has been a part of BMW).

I'd still love to have a red or silver M6 sitting in my garage right now. One of the prettiest and capable road cars ever made.

Isn't it interesting that GM ripped off the BMW double kidney grill when they declared in the 80s that Pontiacs would be the " BMW "-like sporting brand. But because there are millions of these rental cars ( oops, I meant Pontiacs ) on our roads , we see the std Bimmer front end now as a GM car !

I love the 6, and the M will be just that much better. I here they will also make a stripped down CSL!! Even the M6 uses lighter weight components than the 645CI and should tip the scales between 3600-3800 lbs. Not too bad considering its a GT car. A hell of a lot lighter than the slush boxes MB offers.

In the 80s , the M6 was the only " hot rod " luxo euro-coupe from a volume brand. Some were painted bright colors and some had almost- white leather interiors that were , uhhh, eye popping .

I-drive especially the version on the 5er and 6er is extremely easy and much better than the 50 some odd ***** and buttons typically used. It is very easy and intuitive imo. The 645 in person and especially in motion on the road looks fantastic and the M6 will be even better.
