you need to decide what it the most important to you. you seem to like to go fast!!! thats all good but as you can see other components need to be upgraded to handle the additonal hp. really think about what you just said. may brakes cant handle my current hp level but rather that invest in better braking you still opt for more hp, wait till you are now doing 185 in the back straight with your shiney new K 24 hybrids and cant stop!!

for the street (and you know how we feel about that, nuff said) the power is intoxicating and you get carried away (like your you tube vid) with the hp and then realize you cant stop. that is why the track is so great you find out in an controlled environment your cars weaknesses and then you can upgrade as you need.

if pure speed is it for you start at the strip and get some 1/4 mile times then upgrade the power and "see" the results.

Larry, I agree with all you posted here and as always good advise.

Quite frankly, my car is fast enough for me, so brakes would be my priority over more power (for now anyway) ...so your comment raises a couple of questions...a) would the 6 pucks perform better with oem brake pads than my 330mm's with upgraded pads ie the point of the original post or would I be going with more aggressive pads on the 6 pucks too and b) are you leaving the backs stock or are you upgrading those as well. I believe the fronts take the majority of braking work, so maybe its not worth that extra expense.

Also read the excellent thread by MiKelly...seems like I should upgrade my fluid to the Motul stuff and get the GT3 RS cooling ducts..does anyone know where to buy the ducts and how much they cost? Is it DIY? Any pictures?

thx

Marc

Castrol SRF is worth every penny. My 2c. You'll need the rest of your c's for the stuff though.

I second this post. I have been plotting my next pad change and have been looking at either EBC reds or Hawk HPS/ceramics. I only want a street pad with less dust that equals or exceeds the stopping power of the stock rotors. Sounds like it may be difficult to both have my cake and eat it too.

Order the pads directly from Porsche Motorsports, Pagid green compound manufactured for and sold exclusively by Porsche Motorsports. These are the pads that come in the GT3s.

After much research trying to save a few bucks on pads, the Pagid US rep informed that they were not able to sell them directly to me. He told me that the manufacturing people informed him that the most "similar" comercially available Pagid pad is the black.

I buy them directly from Porsche Motorsports in Weissach. I use them always, street and track, on my GT2 with ceramic discs, and in my GT3 cup.

First question: No. Track pads are for the track, street pads are for the street. It only takes 20 minutes to change all 4 corners - why are we even talking about this?

Second question: Who cares how quiet the pads are on the track? Anyway, in my experience, once track pads get hot, and you are using them hard, they don't make much noise. They really only make a lot of noise when they are cold and/or when you are not braking very hard (which is exactly how you use them on the street.)

I keep my race pads on the car all year long. I have learned to modulate the brake pedal so that the pads barely make any noise even in the cold. I have never had problems stopping even in winter, but then I'm not driving at track speed then. Pagid yellows front, Pagid blacks rear.

I assume EBC does not have a solution for PCCB Rotors.....

I keep Pagid yellows all the time on the GT2 (PCCB); road or track. I actually like the occasional squeling on the road. Makes me think I'm on the track again which brings a big grin to my face. It's all in the mind. That said, cold bite is as good as a sixties Chevy!

So I take it that Pagid is the alternative for the stock pads for Ceramic Rotors (PCCB)? I have a Turbo S 2005.

What is the cost comparison?

I can't compare because I don't know the stock pad prices and I live in Europe where everything is more expensive with the current exchange rates. See the Vivid Racing Web site for some representative prices applicable to you.

+1 on all points. Listen to Jon, I did and got the Pagid Yellow's and had a awesome time at the track. I really couldnt have imagined doing a high speed DE with stock pads.

Also the change over can be done in 30 mins...I had the same dilemma...I am now happy with the direction i went with. Race pads for track and Street pads when the noise bothers. I am still on the yellows and they are noise,....you get all the weird looks ...but who cares.
