Cool Down / Warm Up -> Proper Proceedure
Cool Down / Warm Up -> Proper Proceedure
I've had my new K16/Garret turbos (STG4-GT) on for a few weeks now and would like to get some clarification on the correct cool-down and warm-up procedures.
Cool-Down
From what I understand, a 3 miniute cool-down is required so the turbos don’t coke-up. My assumption is that this is adequate following a HARD driving session with lots of periods with extended boost.
If, in fact, this is true, what cool down is adequate if I’ve been driving like an 80 year old lady for the last 3 minutes of my trip and only saw very limited periods of boost during the balance of the trip?

A cool down is only necessary if you have been in boost. If you have not been in boost for the 2-3 minutes prior to parking, no cool down is needed. Personally, I have a no boost zone within a mile of my house (which takes me 3 minutes to travel). Thus, by the time I pull up to my home, I have been out of boost for three minutes, and I can shut down right away.
