Can a 997 key head be programmed for a 996?

Can a 997 key head be programmed for a 996?
The dealer tells me it can't. But they only know what the parts computer tells them.

I compared the internals to see if the 996 parts will fit into the 997 key. They are pretty similar but would have to be modified.

It would be easier to just use a new 997 key head and switch over the old 996 key blade.

Who has had a 997 key programmed by their dealer for their 996?

How about a CGT?
Newport Porsche quoted me $350 for a new key (996 TT) and the required reprogram. I like the CGT idea, might have to look into that.

That's the one I've had reprogrammed by the dealer for my 996 turbo.

This is just a plactic housing that holds your old 996 remote circuit board and pill.
