Ridiculous mark up....if history repeats itself the prices will only go down..How many are they making? Is it a one year only car? How limited is the production?(all questions to ask oneself) Hell with a few more dollars one can pick up a Carrera GT..which in my opinion is alot more exotic..

Gt2

That's the price of admission for those that "must have" the first of everything. Give it a couple of years & you will be able to buy the car in the $150-160's easily.

And 997 GT2's will not be selling for 90 K in a few years, that is pure crack head logic.
I guess your logic is the same 996 GT2 buyers had when they paid $180+ for their cars , I am also sure that it is not a very limited production car but the dollar is weak against euro making this cars very hard to sell on the US and much easier on other markets.

The 2005 GT2 (one of 7) MSRP was $199,000.

Its amazing that a weak economy is the excuse/reality for the plummeting prices of 996TTs and GT2s yet 997GT2 are selling for $40-50K+ over sticker.
Just as GM is having a hard time selling Hummers you would think that Porsche would have had a hard time selling GT2s in the midst of a weak economy. Just shows that the economy is not doing all that bad.. at least not for those willing to buy $200K cars..

I guess its just basic economics called supply and demand , couple years before you had 1000 prospective buyers and 500 cars making the prices raise a lot due the fact that there were more buyers than cars.Today Porsche could still bring lets say 1000 cars but there would only be 200 buyers leaving a lot of cars sitting on showrooms and selling at discounted prices. In that case they play it safe and only import 100 cars for those 200 buyers how are filtered from the 1000 buyers and probably wealthier allowing them to pay an even higher price than before.

There are a lot of countries where the economy is very storng and growing where all this GT2s are much safer for the manufacturer.
