Floor mat mounts drive me nuts

I hate the way Porsche mounts their floor mats with that hokey plastic screwed into the carpet thing. They always rip out. I've moved them a time or two and still they slide up onto the accelerator pedal. This was the same problem I had with my 99 996 cab and I was hoping that it had been improved.

Do you guys have any ideas or know of any products that work better?

If I remember correctly, my 2000 Boxster had a hook that went through a hole in the floor mats... Would have been nice if that was a shared part in the 986/996

my Techart mats are for sale...I like them much better than the stockers and they do not slide around as much and get under that clutch...

They always rip out.
What rips out? The plastic plates?

If you screw the plate into the carpet correctly, it won't move; the velcro from the floor mat will release way before any real pressure is applied to the plastic plate.

Hate to say it BUT my Cayenne has cool screw tabs that LOCK the mat to the floor. They are like "T" headed screws and at 90* turn, they lock the mat through a reinforced plastic hole in the mat. I know that doesn't help, but maybe the 997 is like that? It wouldn't be the first styling cue taken from the pepper to the 997.

Hey Bart, I sent you a private message. Just wanted to ask you a quick question about your rear sway bar. Hit me back when you get a chance. Thanks!

My velcro circles work flawlessly. I think yours may not be mounted in far enough.

I just looked in my private message section of this forum and it shows no private messages. You're welcome to email me at BNale@PioneerBusSys.com and put 'mrpca' in the subject line to ensure it goes through the spam filter.

Bart, buy a set of Lloyds heavy weight mats

You need nothing to secure them--they stay put by the sheer depth of the carpet pile and stiffness of the backing. I have a set of plain black Lloyds heavyweights in my 01 Turbo, and in the Millennium Coupe I had before it. Going on a total of 4 + years old now--no slippage and still look new.

Lloyds Ultimats will also work, but they secure to a buckle that loops around the front seat mounting bolt--they won't move either. Pile depth is comparable to the OEM Porsche mats, but quality is much higher and wears like iron (unlike the OEM mats which are junk).
