to corvette or not
I drive a C6 Z06 -07, and comparing it to a porsche, i dont really like it...
Sure its REALLY fast and all, but it feels plastic.
So i would say keep the porsche, love the porsche quality and all that.
It feels more like a real car, because of all the plastic/carbon on the Z06
Im trying to sell my Corvette for a 996 Turbo or a 996 GT3 in sweden now...

Some of you have seen the pics of my Friend Jim's 2008 Z06 that LG motorsports built for him over the winter. It's fast.. Real fast. It's also not nearly as reliable as the GT3 he has been driving on track events. The Vette is a "performance bargain". Remember that "bargain" part. It's a great car, but it is not nearly as well built as any Porsche. Is it faster than a stock TT? Sure... You can make that performance up, and then some, and you'll have the reliability of Stuttgart's Engineering.
You won't get that in a Chebby, Period.

well i just can't do it... just to many vetts on the road and few tts. if you touch the gas on this vette your sidways the only way to get out of the barn is to roll the acc. and what fun is that it is a monster.....
That's the one thing I love about my car... You won't see another one like it in my town or the next three towns over... Now about pulling out with that power...
Ease out of the clutch and let the motor pull it in first... It's easy once you get used to it... No need for the smoke and noise, and attention from the popo!

Good choice, you can go just as fast (not stock of course), keep your wheels under you and not see a duplicate at every other traffic light. And have Porsche quality to boot, nothing against GM, but it's not Porsche.
I arrived here from the other direction. After owning 5 different vettes over the last 30 years, I purchased a 99 Carrera coupe and that led to the Turbo. The corvette has always been a desirable sports car and very capable but it is not a Porsche IMO.
heres the deal have a friend that built a 06 or 07 zo6 it red coil over two sets of wheels forged pistons and why more than i can remember it was shipped form the factory to texas and rebuilt be gillotte motor sports . (gillotte is most likly misspelled) it is purfect and has 2300 miles, 565 to the rear wheels whats a fair price is it time to say goodby to the p car ???
Drive Z-O6, then keep the Porsche
If you can't play with your friend's C5 or C6 ZO6 for much time or at all, it was unclear to me, go to a Bondurant school and toss one around. As I recall his schools have Cadillac CTS's and fire breathing ZO6's too. That will allow you to make a much more informed decision.
The new Corvettes have come a long way as everyone's saying. They are a lot of bang for the buck, fast as hell, amazing cars. I'd like to drive one, throw it around a track--that's about it. I'd much rather live with my Turbo.

Scott - would you still choose the 996TT if were talking stock Z06 vs. stock 996TT? How about stock Z06 vs stage 2/3 996 TT (K16 car in 500-520hp range)?
