engine misfire

my engine misfires and gives a CEL with hard acceleration. People tell me this is most likely fouled plugs. it did this before and after a stage one. any advice?

thanks 996,

i have read the one million posts on this. I think it could be either plugs or MAF.

You refer to 'the post below'... all posts are moved within each forum as comments are added...just fyi.

Easy way to check. Take out the MAF, clean it well. If it improves it was the maf and not he plugs.

How many miles on your plugs? If over 20k, definitely time to replace anyway.

Finally once plugs are replaced, and remaining issues replace the MAF. They do eventually get fouled where they cannot be cleaned (not this is different than a 'blown' maf)

Personally, I view mafs and plugs as maintenance items, so the need to have a definitive diagnosis is low. They will eventually need replacing....
