engine compartment blower failure

hey i got this message a few times...

this happened after continuous usage of my car (maybe an hour - two) usually in warm temps. i hear a beep, and see a message on my dash that says "engine compartment blower failure". i believe those are the exact words...

in addition my gauge for engine temps has the right side portion of it lit up. the needle looks like its in the middle.. running slightly warmer than usual..

i go back to the engine bay to confirm if the fan is actually on, and it is.

is there another fan that i am unaware of that isnt working? anyone ever experience this.
thanks

Get the codes read. My guess is a bad contact somewhere in the circuit, but the codes will help locate the issue. Found some links for you

Just had the same problem last week. Took it back to the dealer, they said just a loose wire connection.

Had this problem last week, fan seems to be working fine ... cleared the code with Durametric and haven't seen it again since then

I had this problem twice. There seemed to be no problem. Just came on after spirited driving

I searched because I had this problem today and I had a NEW reason for it.

My car has a big 996RS wing now and I got an MA Shaw harness. The fan wires were switched and the fan was blowing out of the engine bay, sucking hot exhaust air into the engine bay in traffic.... I did some electrical work and all is well, and have asked Mr. Shaw to send me a new, correct harness.

Just and FYI, air is supposed to be blown into the engine by the fan...cool outside air. If it pulls air, the air is coming across the turbos and manifolds...not a good thing.
