camshaft Failure question

From what i gather, the camshaft adjuster bolt failure was in certain Panamera and Cayenne engines in 2011, and there was a recall.

Does this happen in other model years? V6 or V8 ?

I had this problem with my 11 4S a few months ago. There was a recall on cars imported to China because of the lower compression ratio Porsche has to set to meet emissions. My car was not covered under the recall and I had 68,120 miles so the factor warranty didn't cover the repair. I highly recommend buying a CPO if you are in the market for an 11'.

I also tried to do some research into if others had this issue and I can only find one other person with a Panamera that had the same failure. I've seen more Cayenne owners have this issue (I'm hoping my 08' GTS holds out). I think the only reported issue have happened on the V8s. I was also told by the Porsche service rep that the 2014 and newer engines went through a camshaft redesign.

I remember talking with the service rep on this. He had mentioned a few of the early '10s had a problem with the bolts backing out and there was a campaign. From what he said there is no concern '11 and up.

I just had a camshaft failure last month.... thankfully covered under CPO on my 2010 4s. Had to get a whole new engine as a result.

I am assuming that the problem with both the cayenne and panamera models is the camshaft bolts - how hard is it to inspect ? A little loctite?
