Low airflow on all ac settings

The ac runs cool but there is very little air coming out. It doesn't matter what the temperature or fan speed. I hear mostly hissing from the fan. The filter is somewhat dirty but it's hard to believe it's clogged at 14k miles. Can the filter clog that quickly?

I have encountered this similar problem twice. There was a "fault" with the ventilation system. I have a Durametric and was able to clear the fault, restoring proper operation. Does turning the car OFF for a period of time help? If you don't have a Durametric cable, best recourse is visit the dealer.

It wasn't cleared by restarting until it sat for 3 hours in a cool garage. So it might be intermittent. Time will tell. Your info is very helpful. Thank you!

Samp is infamous around these parts
Low airflow on all ac settings

There is also a setting for air flow on the PCM. Of course letting it set won't fix this. During the summer I like mine on the high setting.

Until it went into fault mode I was satisfied with the operation. Dealer claims the error code is stored so there's no hurry for a service visit unless it keeps happening. I have two full days of driving next week so I'm hoping this was a fluke.

If it cleared by sitting it may have been a frozen condenser. That can be caused from not enough airflow across the condenser allowing it to freeze or too much demand on the compressor causing it to fall below freezing (Macans are currently being updated due to this).

Believe it or not 14k miles could be enough to reduce airflow enough to cause that problem (I know first hand) but it is worth talking to the dealership to assure there are no other factors.

It has worked fine since the incident but the filter was surprisingly dirty so I cleaned it before reinstalling. I ordered a new Porsche filter so that variable is eliminated if this happens again. I must say I'm satisfied with the operation but I have noticed the ac in my wife's 2003 Volvo s80 is much colder. It's ironic that the swedes design exceptional ac systems.

When you change the filter you'll have to let me know if you see a direction for airflow. I actually changed mine also but don't remember seeing a direction on the filter. I've wondered if I just missed it -but I've not wondered enough to want to contort to that space again

There is no direction indicator.
I agree the install requires some contortions. The plastic filter retainer sliding tabs should have used two different lengths. It's difficult to engage the four prongs simultaneously. A simple change would make this a lot easier.
