Need some help pricing out a low mile Turbo.....

This is a car I am looking to buy from a friend for myself. He is not to worried about a sales price. He has about 45 other cars! What do you think a 2001 Seal Gray/ Black with 6600 miles on it worth? Wholesale trade-in and Retail? It is a two owner car, all stock, no nav. and pretty much bone stock on interior options. The car is flawless. I have access to MMR because I have my Dealers Licence but prices on the 996TT are so soft and it is such a low mile car. I want to be fair and at the same time buy it right. Any info would be appriciated.

This could vary depending on how good a friend he is haha, the car is worth 60-70k. In my opinion 60k with that kind of mileage would be a great deal, 65k would be a good deal and 70k would be about what it is worth at the high end. Hope this helps, I look at these cars all day everyday, but again this is my opinion, good luck

6600 wow thats really low. I would assume $70k would be ideal considering it has such low miles and assuming the car's shape looks like it has 6600 miles.

That's the snag which makes it hard to reply . The kbb figures place it in the 40's wholesale (low 50's private party sale) but my guess is you don't want to insult your friend .

As an owner of a 996TT and to help keep the value up, i would say that car is at least $100,000

If it is what he says it is, it truly is worth 70k, but I wouldnt pay that much, shoot for 65k, I think this would be relatively fair deal for both parties, but if you really want a pristine example what is another 5k right!

Bone stock is great IMO. The essence of sports car.

Get a Flash, exhaust, air filter and Hybrid you turbos for a fast spooling 560-580 0HP. That's plus 140-160 HP. Fast and safe.

65K is good for an 01. Not personally into Seal greay, but it's a very popular and sought after color.

Do you plan on driving it daily?

$65k for private party sale from a friend seems to be a good deal for both parties assuming it is exactly as described, see if you can find the original sticker or anything to get the full options list.

Good luck with it

Just my 2 cents but I would say 65 tops and closer to 60 but I have been surprised by the overall higher numbers people have thrown around for this car, however the only number that is really important is a number that you would be willing to pay for a car you want, if at the end of the day you are happy with the purchase then its a good deal...Josh

I realize I'm a newb, but from all the reading I've done here, shouldn't there also be at least a bit of concern for the car being driven so few miles? Was it still properly maintained despite the lack of mileage?

$70k for an 01 is insane regardless of mileage. $60-$63k tops.

Agree. If this was TRULY a 'market' deal, the price would not break 60. Your buyer is somewhat price immune, and wants ultralow mileage. This creates a unique situation that distorts the normal market pricing. You can apply all kinds of adjustments to pricing between other comparable sales, but when you get into the sub 10k miles the 'rarity factor' makes it harder...

I sold my 01' w/ 4100 miles original owner absolute mint condition for 63k about 7-8 months ago thankfully. I think the 996 makret has taken a hit lately. I don't see this car bringing more then 60k and that would be top dollar in my opinion. I think the car would be a good buy in the mid 50's.

I don't get why mileages affects the value so much with these cars. With a Ferrari, I get it... 30k miles on most Ferraris and people run the other way because the maintenance is so high and they're not intended to go 100k miles. But I have a '84 911 w/ 260k miles and still the original engine/tranny. These cars with proper maintenance will have no problem seeing 100k, 150k, even 200k miles. So why pay a premium to get one w/ only 6k miles?

I just bought a '04 996TT Cabriolet w/ 49k miles for $60k. It still looks like new, so why pay the same money for an older car with less miles and features (mine has carbon/aluminum trim, Nav, Bose, sport seats, etc.).

Colby
