You can see the mods to my car below, if I am running 93 octane should I modify or tweak my wastegates on the K-24's if I want to attain peak performance, and what affect will it have on that performance?
Is race gas harmful to my set up?
Thanks-
TCB
Ur on giac... ur K24s I assume came from them? what doesn ur car do in 3rd or 4th? I guess 1.1 bars? if so thats fine...

If you want to run a little more boost.. 1.25 bars... and thats ur max casue the throttle boddy shuts down on the giac Ecu at 1.3 bars... u can with upgraded WG springs.. get like 12 psi springs vs. the 7 spi that are on the K24 stock.... then you can modulate it up to 1..25 bars or so. but I would only do that on 100 octane ...

The best safety anyone can have is runing good gas... and most guys who blew the head gaskets are guilty of running low octane at too high of a boost...

Pure fact... my friends runs 1.5 bars on C16 andf 1.7 bars on VP import and puts down over 700 rwhp on a stock motor... -never blew anything.... and leak down tests are perfect...
things that make you go hhmmmm.

tcb996TT is infamous around these parts
Markski:
Thanks for the info, my k24's came from Ares at RS Speed, and yes about 1.1 bars in 3rd and 4th. I will look for the 12 psi springs and install them, as I have just now found a place here in Dallas that sells 102 Octane race fuel, and am anxious to see the power that I can get from it-
Thanks again.

If you have such good gas .. I would put in a AFR guage and watch the fuel ratio.. you probably can get more out of her... actually, we run 1.4 bars on built motors with 700+rwhp on gas of that caliber...
watch ur afrs... thats the key.

This is an interesting thread. I'm a Evo Stage 4 (K24's)with upgraded wastegates and I see 1.2 bars (pretty sure) in 3rd and 4th gear... I am in CA so I run our crappy 91 cruising around most of the time (not romping on the car)... I have a 91 tune...

Are you suggesting that this is a dangerous situation and that I shouldn't be running over 1.1 safely? Is this only a concern for 24/18 hybrids?

Why would Evo put out a kit that could lead to blown engines at this 'moderate' state of tune?

You've got me a little concerned! Thanks for anyone's input in advance!

I am more concerned with K24/18gs.... they should NEVER run more then 1.1 bars on any pump gas.... ( protomotive tune in particular).

As far as ur stage 4.... I bet you didnt have the upgraded WGs originally when you purchased the product... which means that the car originally was not tuned seeing those boost levels on 91 octane... it is only 2 years or so when everyone discovered the "Upgraded" springs.... and they started to put them on... causing TB to shut down etc... cause of overboost past 1.3 bars.... wiht that said... if ur hitting 1.2 bars on 91 octane... I would invest in a AFR guage or spend $100 and get the car dynod... see what its doing as it stands and what the afrs are... then you really will know...
I personally would run 1.1 bars on 91 and 1.2 on 93 like I used on my K24s fvd set up and 1.3 bars on 100 octane...

You are not alone my friend. I know at least 12 guys like you in So. Cal who run 1.2 bar on 91 octane and have no issues. Some of them are 10,000 miles into there tune.

I choose to run the high octane gas because it keeps the car running cool and I can really push it at 1.0 bar and not worry. I did adjust the waste gates to 1.1bar on Monday and will test her out tomorrow morning on our weekly early morning run.

I will also be logging the runs with my DriftBox. Hope to get some better 60-130 times.

I run 1.1 to 1.2 BAR on my K24s on 91 all the time. I run 100 octane with the same flash at the track (the few times I've been to the track) for peace of mind.

Wouldn't run that high on 24/18g. 1.0-1.1 Max.They move a lot more air at a lower boost. Even then, I would be happier with with a 5 BAR fuel pressure regulator to deliver some extra fuel.
