A Question for KPV...

Hi Ken,

I've read some of your informative posts on this fourm and was wondering if I could have your expertise on the following:

In the pic of Hawks Nest Run posted by Stryke earlier today, there's one pic of your engine compartment...is that the 3rd intercooler set-up you have there from Gemballa? Whart are your thoughts on this set-up and have you been pleased with its performance so far?

I'm currently doing a makeover on my TT with Gemballa body kit and widebody, and was wondering if this would also be a good option to go.

Thanks for your input.

Peter

Peter,
Expertise???? Well I appreciate that comment but I am just a Porscheholic with an OCD!!! I will try to help any way I can. I would first like to direct you here:

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ht=intercooler

It explains the components of the kit and much of my feeling about it and its "performance"

Basically, it is like this......
This is not a "power adding" modification. At best, it can be described as a "power preserving" mod. Personally, I feel the kit is very well executed and built. The fit and finish is top shelf as it is with all Gemballa parts I have dealt with (hoods are a little tough though). I did not notice any additional lag due to the longer, larger pressurized chamber. I didn't notice any loss of power during the all day Tail of the Dragon affair in the heat of North Carolina several weeks ago.

As you already know, it only works with the Gemballa wing in that it has a definitive inlet and outlet allowing the air to circulate through the IC. I would look to improve the air flow after the IC with a plenum of some sort. I want to look into the use of my old center radiator rear shroud as the basis to duct the bottom of the center IC to the rear vent. I feel this will clean up the air flow and maybe even create a suction through the IC since the rear of the car is clearly a lower pressure.
Hope that helps.

Expertise, boy are you on the money with that comment. I am just a little surprised the response is so short. Its usually a few pages.

Thanks Ken for the detail explanation, I guess I missed that previous thread from you...it must've been cuz of the title: "0hp mod". I'm very interested in this function of "preserving power" and will look into it more, and I also agree with you that the Gemballa parts are very well made and top shelf in quality.

I've also noticed that the fan in your engine compartment is gone, today when I asked Gemballa about this they said that it's no longer necessary?
