Sad part is even with Leh Keen's comments my guess is the Porsche addicts may say that even though he drives a Porsche GT3 professionally he is not qualified to comment on the GTR (lets not forget he owns an R34)... so his judgement could be biased towards Nissan.

For now, I will take Leh's post on the other forum as something with substance finally dragged onto this thread.

I crack myself up.

I think this GTR that leh was driving must have been one of these SPECIAL PRESS cars that Heavychevy and Rkelly keep going on about, its impossible to be as good as this person says without it being a SPECIAL PRESS car because that what Rkelly and Heavychevy say so its must be one of those SPECIAL PRESS cars, you know the ones with extra horse power and special wheels and stronger transmissions and special computers actually driving the cars, This must be the case its Definately one of those SPECIAL PRESS cars!!!

Leh is an import guy through and through, and everyone knows that. The cayman was running stock power because the motor wasnt running right. Tony Swan is good enough where a even a driver of Leh's status shouldnt beat him in a 295 hp car.

BTW, are you Tool, Z07, etc etc? You just joined here right after his last banning. We can find out, so you might as well be honest.

No I am not Tool, but I did join recently. I'm located in Boulder, CO, and looking forward to meeting up with other forum members as most folks seem pretty nice on here.

Why the hostility? I have not been uncivil in any of my postings.

Dez, point2point is cool. He's real.

And on the stock motor, it wouldn't be 295 hp would it?

It's an X51 motor.

Remember they had all the problems and Leh said the car was running essentially stock power when they took it to the dealer. I think they may have even dynoed it. But it trapped the same speed as an average Cayman S at the drags. Like 103 or something paltry like that.

So in all reality it was a stock Cayman S with coilovers.

Bud, just because he presents an opposing view with some substance he must be a flamer? Please, lets keep this logical and not enter into personal attacks.

And I agree that Leh is a known import guy, but he has driven the car, and those are his comments on the car. He has drawn comparisons of the GTR transmission to his sequential box on his race car, he has drawn comparisons to the car against his R34 in terms of handling and straight line speed... all of these are his opinions but he has drawn comparisons based on REAL EXPERIENCE. His reference is his own driving style against cars he has driven, not what a magazine said, not what he saw on a video or youtube.

He had seat time. So he is as qualified (if not more so) than any one of us that have posted on this thread. Lets at least give some credit to the car... it may not be a Porsche, it may not be beautiful (in our eyes), it may have some strange "facts" linked to it but if Leh says its a good car I tend to believe he knows a bit about what he is talking about... lets not become "Porsche Fanboys".

He just joined and is immediately trolling the GT-R threads. We've had to ban Z07 4 times doing the same kind of stuff, I simply asked a question, get over it.

As far as Leh is concerned, he also said that he thinks a GT3 will be faster on the circuit. And times that have been run by average drivers in a GT3 he would even struggle to beat in a GT-R, not to mention if someone who's of his caliber was in it. Or did you miss those posts.

You can try to go toe to toe with me harold but you will lose.

As much as you accuse me of only seeing one side of the arguement you are just as guilty from the opposing end, stop making assumptions and just state your case.

I have no intention of going toe to toe with you heavychevy. This isnt a contest. If I am as guilty of coming from the other side and being blinded, I am not too sure why I have a pretty heavily modified 996tt in my garage, and have owned every generation of 911 since the 1984 3.2 Carrera and happen to still also have a totally standard 993 C4S that I will never sell.

Oh yes, I have never owned a GTR but have seen some pretty impressive R35s running on the track alongside me and some friends that have them in their garage as well. Thats all I know about them. Heck this morning the Lamborghini club had a convoy run up to Sepang race track. One of the Lambo club guys decided to take his GTR up. My friend was flat out in 4th, 5th and 6th gear outright in his E Gear Gallardo- granted its the soft top so probably a shade slower than a coupe), and the GTR gained on him through all 3 gears (its a stock standard GTR, with the Mines ECU). And my friend in the Gallardo is also one of the fastest guys in the Porsche club here. Thats plenty fast for me, even if its just in gear acceleration and nothing more. But its because of all this that I see that I do not criticise them just yet. I choose to be open minded and accept everyones opinions without thinking I am in any way threatened by my choice to keep my 996tt.

I choose to be an open minded Porsche enthusiast, and respect those that love the GTR too. They have as much right to believe its a great car, and argue their case. I know that I feel the right to argue why the Porsche is an excellent car and argue why we wont take one over the GTR without being called out as a troll so long as its logical and polite.

But my apologies if you felt you weren't jumping the gun in that case, and for me perhaps I should not have judged the response you gave as you no doubt have faced some frustration with some genuine trolls previously. My sincere apologies for that.

With regard to Leh, I never mentioned that he said the GTR was a better car than a Porsche... I said that he compared it against his R34 and the transmission against his sequential shift only. So no, I am not saying it is a substitute for Porsche- only time will prove if it is a good or great car. In the meantime I reserve my judgement only to say that I am impressed with the car based on seeing the cars at the track.

Its a free world, you have your opinion, and your way of dealing with people. I have mine. I will leave it at that, and say that forums can unfortunately create all sort of animosity that we probably would not have if we met at the pub over a couple of beers. Cheers mate. And I promise this will be the last post from me on this thread

I can't believe you guys are still arguing about this....
Anyone can build a cheaper and a faster production car.... but it will not be a Porsche...
You pay for the name tag and the history behind each company... pure and simple.
Each person has a preference and spends moneys at leasure... no one is putting a gun to your head telling you to buy XXX car...
Heck, a flashed Evo 8 for a 4th of the price can hang with turbo P car... does that mean it's faster, better, or superior?
