Which shifter do you have? The B&M? The problems you have don't sound normal for the B&M. Prior to installing Todd's new product, the B&M would go "click" or "snick" or something like that when you engaged first or third. And it was a little "notchy" feeling, nothing unusual for an aftermarket shifter. But, I never had it stick in gear or anything like that.

The only difference I noted after the new piece (w/the B&M) is that it is no longer notchy and the "snick" is muted (very subtle) now.

I have whatever the stock shifter is.

Do you have to have an aftermarket short shift kit in order to get this shifter? Also, if so still leaves me with the question of what could be the problem with mine???

Personally I'd make Porsche fix the stock shifter first. If you first go to an aftermarket unit, and find you still have a problem, you'll likely run into dealer flack re your warranty...

The stock TT shifter should be very smooth, easy throws, like moving through butter. It's just a very, very long throw - which is the only thing the aftermarket shifters can remedy.

I talked to dealer (service manager) about it. He said they would install the part and it would not affect the warranty.

Cool dealer. Mine said he'd install it, screw up the installation, break some interior pieces, and then refuse to fix any of it - citing "failure due to aftermarket parts".

(OK. I was just kidding. But, some stories on the Forum haven't been too far off from that!)
