I'm sure HPF is a good kit, their customer service is good too from what I hear. Just realize you'll lose against a modded 996TT if you're on pump with both HPF stage 2 or estuning.
It depends on what you're looking for. At some point you'll be limited by your platform. If you want to street race and beat everyone to hell, get a c6 Z06 and mod it. Modded M3 will be very nice but don't try picking on modded 996TT and Z06s. M3s will limited by their platform, traction etc unless you spend mega bucks to overcome their limitations...

No known blown motors yet that I know of.... just like with our Porsches, it comes down to the tune. Plus the S54 motors are built very strong from the factory. Don't know the limit though....

much more info over at e46fanatics forum if you want to know more...

I believe they had 1-2 blown motors so far, but they where attributed to installer error. Either a problem with the fuel pump, or meth fitting that resulted in the car going lean and boom. I believe they covered the expense of rebuilding the engine from what I've read.

The HPF cars will compete very well w/ 996TT's up to GT 700 if the M3 has DR or R compounds and the race starts from above 60 MPH.

But realize that an HPF stage 2 maxes out the M3 platform (ability to put the power down, stock engine...actually I would not run the S54 at 600 rwhp on the stock motor personally) while the Porsche is capable of more.

However ya gotta admit that a 600 rwhp M3 is a very cool novelty.

I've heard that the stock internals on a S54 are good up to 700whp - but no more. That doesn't mean you can put a turbo kit on it and put down 700whp with no problems - the compression is too high for that kind of power - which means you have to lower it or build the motor. The $40k kit that HPF makes (i think it's their stage 3 kit) includes a fully built motor - good for like 1000whp.

A HPF stage 2 ran a verified 6.86 on the 60-130. I think these kits are well put together. I'm sure people with HPF stage 2 will chime in soon...

hpf makes good kits...but without fender modifications on an m3, you cant get anything wider than a 285, which, for a 700+ hp rwd car is too small.
theres a member...torredmd whose gt660 pulled on a hpf stage 2 a while back, pretty easily too.

There's not very many of these cars around, especially in the Seattle area. Who was it?

Have you seen the vids or maybe missed the race descriptions? Its clearly labeled that Our first race was HPF Stage 1 vs GT660. He definitely pulled on me. The 2nd race was HPF Stage 2 vs GT660 and I gave Steve a good race and pulled on him.

I am not sure where you get your info about 285's being too small. I agree that the larger contact will give more traction but most of the HPF owners are hooking up in 2nd and 3rd gear with no issues. I recently did a 6.86 60-130 (verified) on 275 with no traction issues.

Actually all of the earlier vids are HPF Stage 1 or 2. There are only 2 HPF Stage 3 cars. Ardika (Cali) and the HPF Shop car. I believe they are working on 2 more cars going with HPF Stage 3.

The vids you are referencing are Stg1 and Stg2 for the second vid.
