Just ran my car against HPF Stage 2 M3!

Recently purchased a 996TT with a evo kit. It has headers, intake, exhaust and upgraded turbos. It hits 1.1 bar on pump gas tune in second gear. I am pretty sure it's a GT600 or GT640 kit.

Anyway, after hearing about all the HPF M3s running around and how fast they are, I just met up with a guy that was driving a HPF stage 2 M3 (turbos with meth, I believe they put down around 550 peak rwp).

We did a few runs... I was on pump gas, he was on pump gas + meth.

Second gear rolling run x 2... No contest, not even close, I pulled ahead immediately and was way ahead when we shut down...

We did a higher speed run from 3rd gear 50mph rolling start.... He did much better... I immediately jumped ahead a few car lengths but he was holding on with me pulling ahead very slowly..

I was surprised how much faster my car was with all these videos on youtube showing HPF M3 winning. I think for the most part, they were likely running race gas tunes in the videos. For typical street encounters on pump, HPF stage 2 meth enhanced turbo M3s should be no problem for well running 600 crank HP and above 996TTs, especially given our torque advantage.

the HPF M3s are a joke. You are right most of the vids are runs with race gas tunes. They all have traction problems. The ones ive seen in the youtube vids still have stock tires and wheels LOL. You would think they are putting down 10k for a turbo kit at least afford a wider rim. Nope they just buy the dyno sheet and bragging rights

I think the kits are over 20K. You are right, the guys that run them with stock tires would be idiots. But this guy that I ran did it right, had fat tires on HRE rims. Nice car.

I would agree that they are overhyped on the internet/videos. They are easy kills from low speeds. They would only have a chance at very high speeds. Who wants to race starting at high MPH anyways? Not me, at least not in this country In germany where 100MPH encounters are more common, I could see them being in their element and could give us a good run. Everywhere else, mildly modified 996TT rules. The torque and power curve advantage of our cars will smoke them in all typical encounters.

The majority of vids on youtube are hpf stg3 m3's. Anyway, meth + pump gas makes around 670 at the crank. Do you have any vids of this run?

Guys, some bad info here so far.

If you smoked a HPF Stage 2 running meth, then you either have at least a GT660 kit or more, or something was likely not running well with this, or he doesn't know how to drive!

Here's a stage 2 M3 pulling a GT660 996tt posted a few months ago. Looks like about as fair of a race as you can get.

And most of the kits done to date are Stage 2's, not Stage 3's. Stage 2 is under $20k and Stage 3 is nearing 30k. I was going to do the stage 2 before I sold my M3 and picked up a 996tt instead.

Yes, let's see some video!

A joke? How do you figure? You would have some traction issues too with 750hp!

And $10k? Try $18-20k. Getting a wider rim isn't an affordability issue for people who are getting these...

HPF stage 2 in town recently left our Cars and Coffee and went to the dragstrip.

I believe he trapped a 122 mph. He was quite disappointed. Meth, race gas, etc.

Gorgeous car, really set up very well, but is not putting down the power the company
claims. It would not be ANYWHERE near my car on the highway (or at the strip obviously).

Marty, keep in mind that PEAK RWHP is one thing, but area under the curve is where it's at. The more AVG RWHP you have throughout your usable RPM range, the faster your car will be.

I only hit 1.1 bar on full boost so I am pretty sure it's not a GT660. I wish I had a video of the run, but it was a chance encounter. Yes, I have seen those videos on youtube and that's why it surprised me. There are lots of videos of HPF M3s on youtube and you hardly see any of them get beat. Marketing by posting these videos are fine but you don't see the real world, spontaneous encounters when we are meeting these cars on the road pump gas vs pump gas. I am not putting down HPF as I think their packages for M3s are impressive and the guy definately had a nice car. I am just saying the videos are not indicative of what they do when you see them on chance road encounters when they are running pump. Based on my encounter, on pump vs pump gas, GT600 and up modified 996TTs will have better torque, power under the curve, traction to beat HPF stage 2 pump +meth M3s easilly from a dig and low speed rolls. At freeway speeds the M3 will do better.

Peak HP isn't anything, Huge Spiking HP on 265 street tires is even worse.

I can upload videos of my car spanking the Worlds fastest Street Supra if you'd like, doesn't mean it's the truth, but I'm sure we'd sell quite a few K24-18G packges lol.

Marty, something is wrong with that car, track, driver, etc.

One of the first Stage 2 HPF cars awhile back put down a 11.40 @ 133 on his 648rwhp kit at 13psi. He drove his car back from HPF shop to Washington and laid down the time on his own, so it seems legit.

He goes by Evil Twin Rob over at e46fanatics.

They really are impressive kits.

You did that on K24/18 hybrids?

whats the point of 750hp on public roads. They are quality made kits dont get me wrong. If you are planning on putting down 750hp then why wouldnt you want to focus on wider tires. For example if the people buying these kits can afford anything then im sure they could afford a custom wide body
