Yes, my point exactly....you were 100+hp over my numbers with same turbos and headwork, on the same optimistic dyno.

I found the .82's much more fun to drive...the .63's really died up top. I didn't feel I lost much spool either, maybe 200 rpm....

Don't mean to hijack this thread but just curious to know what kind of power you guys think I'll make on my build.

3.8L CP forged pistons with 102 mm ductile liners
Pauter rods
O-ringed head and liners
Racewear headstuds
Full Proto intake with FORD maf
75mm IPD plenum
Evoms IC's
Custom exhaust with just resonators (no cats)
60lb injectors with in-tank and external pumps and bigger fuel lines
HTA GT3076. 82 a/r

We plan to run 1.5- 1.6 bar 0n C16

With stock cams and heads I'd guess 750 rwhp or so.

Sounds about right Scott although I think he will need 1.6 to hit 750. But w/ the strengthened bottom end he can get away w/ it.

Here is some info I found explaining the Garretts:T30R(GT3076) uses a 52lb compressor, the GT3071 is ~49lb.

The 71 & 76 is the exducer diameter in mm of the compressor, not the AR. Both 71 & 76 use the same exhaust wheel just a different exhaust housing(AR), most use .63 or .82 A/Rs for the Garrett GTs. You must take into account that the Garret wheels are much much lighter than the MHI wheels so a larger A/R does not necessary mean its going to be laggier than a smaller ^cm MHI.

Scott,
In your opinion would I gain more hp with the HTA GT35 .63a/r turbos? Would this be a better choice turbo and whats the max boost I can run safely?

Thanks
Raudel

You do not have the fuel for gt35rs.. remember we talked about it....
I think the twin 044 pump set up with 60 lbs. injectors are good for 750rwhp just like Scott pointed out.
Run the boost/fuel that Todd recommends.... I say nothing but C16 on high boost... 1.5 bars I guess... 1.2 bars( 104 octane)...

The 60lbs injectors will give you 700 flywheel HP at around 85% duty cycle with a 5 bar FPR.

The dual 044s will take you beyond 1200 flywheel HP without problems, so your limitation are the injectors.

Raudel,

I agree with Mark and Jean. Your limitation will be your fuel system. For you what you have now, I'd stick with the GT3076's. I absolutely love those turbos.

Sidenote to a great discussion:

The turbos that came off from Scott's car (GT30/76's) are available as I sold
them to a buddy here on 6speed. (S-351). He has decided not to put them
on his GT2 for now.

Mark,
The fuel system is being upgraded. Right now I only have 60lb. inj., and one external 044 pump. We are going to add an in-tank 044 pump and run bigger fuel lines. Todd said with this setup I will be good to 850 rwhp.

So with all of the Q's surrounding the smaller injectors, it would turn out that Todd has plans for more fuel all along......

I recall you telling me the fuel stuff was being left alone a few months back...
Good stuff...

Yeah, I know but you know how it goes. These projects tend to snowball.
