I was at Summit Point Raceway today with PCA, running in the white run group when I struck a ground hog at about 137mph... The little sucker ran across track in front of me and I had no choice, as I had just passed a car and was off the line...

The impact took out the front splitter and the center radiator, along with other bits and pieces... I was surprised at the impact... I'll have footage from another car's camera later, as there was a guy who captured me hitting it from behind.

I've got three weeks to get it back together for VIR... Ugh...

Wow, that's a scary thing to have happen. Fortunately you didn't try to swerve to avoid it and lose control!!!

 

I am very sorry to hear that, now you have to deal with the headache of putting back the car together. Thank god you are OK! It could have been much worse...

Glad you're ok. I also had a close encounter at Summit Point. Last year I had 2 deer running across the front straight with me going at 130mph. I just barely missed them. Great track, yet scary at times.

 

Better the car than you. Still sorry about the car. Hope you upgrade something for all your trouble.

 

Mike, I wondered what happened to you. I came looking for you after lunch and saw you were gone. Glad you're OK, bummer about the car. Glad we had a chance to meet and I'll see you at another event in the future. Good luck.

 

I hit a coyote at about 70mph. Destroyed the front bumper, left radiator, left fender and even dented the door. $7k damage.

 

I hit a cougar several times...ruined my passenger seat

 

Dang, that's crazy... Good thing you stuck to your guns and just nailed it, rather than doing something drastic like swerving, braking, or worse, swerving AND braking

 

yep, them pesky cougars. Best to simply NAIL EM, and keep on going... regreats are for your next life....lol
