9FF 996 turbo at the strip
I have over 100 passes at the local track when my car was running 11s...
In this case I cannot run this car locally like other tuners can... so I traveled 700 miles and $1200 later( just for the renting of ther track) just to get one pass.... yes I got one pass .... 10.4 before the axles broke... 3 total. Todd and Bobby did the other ones...
After 2 more failed attempts at my expense that I cannot subract from my expenses like a tuner can I got smart and decided to leave the car with a friend who has access to tuner as needed and the track.
What's wrong wiht that? Your not paying my bills so why your always in my face that I persoanlly did not run a 9? Nor did you ever run a 9sec.
My point was that its not easy to run a 9 even if that 9ff has 400K into it....
who cares who drives it....
My car is almost ready Ill do one just for you... so you can stop pointing out something I never took credit for....

Always in your face?
I was simply wondering when you ran a 9 since you said you "did not want to brag" in your previous post and I thought you had run one since the last run.

I don't brag about anything. it's a passion and trust me I wish I was there.
Once thing I can say is that the car drives to the track and comes back come... not a trailer queen. All on the same tires.
The very few that I can count on my one hand only know what it takes to run such fast times.... and as I said in this thread... it is evident, from watching that 9ff car with full 15 inch slicks with probably $30K in parts just to fit the rear wheels on the car, how hard it it really is... irrelevent of who drives it....

Markski -
I think you're costs ideas are a bit inflated. With the right relationships having custom parts made for the Porsche really aren't that difficult.
17" Skinnies have already been produced that clear up to a 14" brembo, it's just a matter of placing an order for the correct wheel and waiting for it to be produced (M&H developed 17" skinnie tires a few years back that we helped bring to the fore front).
16" rear wheels are readily available and there are quit a few slick sizes out there for this size, 15s and a custom brake setup shouldn't be that difficult either, just a matter of making an adapter and deciding that the car is strictly designed for the 1/4". Lord knows widened body panels for the Porsche are readily available for hte 996 as a result of cup cars.
It's just a matter of thinking outside the box of being a "Porsche" and colaberating with those companies that alreadyproduce great racing parts which 9FF obviously has realized.

Here in the states we are fortunately to have compulink at almost every track in the custom which is calibrated and accurate from a great comparison.
It's very difficult to compare times from Europe to America as the tracks have different prep, compositions, measurements, and timing systems. Just as Chris said most don't translate well and should and can be taken with a grain of salt. That's not to say there aren't a few proper tracks across the pond, just the norm seems to suggest otherwise and uses GPS, Gbox, G-tech pros, etc to formulate times.
From the moment the first 996tt rolled out It took someone 7 years to run a 9 sec pass... There is also a reason for that....
That 9FF car is at least $440K. It obviously did not all go into the ECU tuning. That car has the best of everything...
When your a tuner maybe you speak in a different language.... but in the real world it's called "how much will it cost"... and is it something I can afford.
I even looked into retrofitting Boxter and or 996 hubs etc to see it it will bolt up.
