How do you safely run that much power on stock internals without blowing the motor?

Seems like the other packages all require the engine get opened up at those hp levels.

Robert, Tommy does not build Porsche motors (or Supra motors for that matter), and I doubt ANY tuners build their motors in house, rather they sub the motor work to a machine shop. The rest is bolt-ons (for the most part)... I would back Tommy in a heart beat and he would be the one doing my Porsche if I had the money to invest in one...

basupra (Tim) - bold post on this forum! We can't ALL be ballers like you, Mr. 996TT and looking to buy/build a Supra as well... I will be honest...I am interested in either a 996 GT2 with 600 rwhp OR a 997TT with AWD and 850 rwhp... That sounds like fun! Can you imagine 3rd gear AWD sliding action at 80 mph? (ok, maybe that doesn't sound like that much fun!!!!!!!)

Dog, I think they are able to make that HP by keeping the torque low?

Peter, Akram built my 3.8 kit and has worked on many diff cars ranging from EVOMS to Proto. I did not know Tommy does not build the supra motors? Tommy writes his own programs (Tuner like Todd K?)? However, if I had a Supra Tommy would be the person I took the car to because of his experience. Peter, once Akram gets my fuel system put in and tested, I will let you drive her ;-)

Cheers
Robert

robert, definitely one of the strategies was to keep the torque low so we wouldn't stress the motor. as you can see, we really didnt want the torque to be much more than 700 lb.ft. at the rear wheels.

Porsche Motor builders in house

Tommy will do a fantastic job and there are good people that would help if needed.

Protomotive builds there own motors in house (Cynthia Knighton who also owns
a 69 Camaro that she built herself with DART heads and 993TT brakes all around).
I believe Cyn has built more 3.8 993TT and 996TT motors than anyone. I have been
in her engine room which is clean and organized unlike the rest of Proto's shop. Complete with windows, coffee maker, and her own music.

EVOMS builds there own motors (John), he built the "best ET 996TT motor to date
right before going and setting the ET record. (they do not write their own programs)

S-Car-Go has built some mean stuff (they do not write their own programs)

Stephen Kaspar has built quite a few motors at I/A in the Midwest (they do not write their own programs)

Tuning is the key, and of course and the coordination of Tuner and Builder
is the most important part. Only one of the above tuner/builders are Married.

In Europe, the list is even longer of Very Expert engine builders;
Ruf, 9FF, Sportec, RS Tuning, FVD, and many, many more (X 10).
(above builder tuners in Europe: I believe that RS Tuning does their own tuning, Sportec (Uli) does their own tuning,
and 9FF might do their own tuning (?). I do not know, Jan Fatthaerer (9FF) came from Ruf.

So to Recap, Peter (Houston T), is correct. Very few Tuners (Real Tuners that write code and figure out things that have not been done
before) build their motors in house.

RPM Motorsports (Tim, Bello and the gang) build their own stuff,
and they are breaking records!!! (I believe they do their own tuning??)

Protosport in NJ builds some very good stuff (Protomotive tuning)

. who in their right mind would give anyone any !@#%@^ for making 800 RWHP?

seriously..... you ONLY lay down 700 RWTQ you weak !!%$^@ ~ what the hell???

get a life guys. this is completely insane power. I do want to see the car in 50,000 more miles and see that it's holding together with street duty in mind... this is great work. Tym we should talk about selling your standalone to Porsche GY.

re: 50K miles my guess is that is still has 95% leakdown and kills liter bikes on REGULAR 89 unleaded.

PM me and we'll sell the program + hardware to Porsche.

Wow, amazing that all of these tuner shops have an in-house machine shop that allows them to build all of their motors. KUDO'S to all of them!!!!!

Robert - sounds great, you will NOT be able to back out of your offer, it's documented and set in stone now!

Again, not to take away from 850 rwhp on stock bottom end, SICK!!!!!! Now go break my 4.51 60-130 record, would ya?

even a modded VESPA has its mechanical limits. this is apples and oranges. the Supra is in a league of its own.

Great post Marty. Evoms DOES write their own programs though.

DK- the fact that you pulled the preloaded boost in order to tame the TQ, is that why you are as laggy as you are? seems like with a bit more boost request on the punch would yes give you a bit more tq but more importantly have this set up spool a bunch quicker no? Tym? DL congrats again thats a sick curve. Im sure the heat didnt help the spool.

I stand corrected,

thanks Luis, we all know their have been lots of changes recently at EVOMS
(for the better) and most of us just are not up to speed as to what they are
doing. Hopefully they will rejoin here!
