Switzer 996/997 standalone - 850 rwhp
SubscribeScott, couple of corrections:
1. I was NOT running drag slicks, I have never ever run slicks in my life. Rather they were drag radials.
2. Professionally prepped - lol, that cracks me up bud! I would call it TX barnyard prepped and probably more slick than a good grooved concrete highway. Of course, let's not talk about the 15 mph headwind that day... I think the ONLY time I have seem a "professionally prepped" track was at TX2K8.
3. My 4.51 was just the beginning of what these street cars are capable of. My 4.51 run was at about the same power level as when we ran. I had another 150 rwhp or so on the table, had I run slicks, I would have tried to hook more power but as we all know, it wasn't meant to be and my 4.51 time will retire me as my "personal best". A low 4 would have been doable with better tires and better conditions...
I think that Tag will run a low 4 eventually. I think that your car and this 997 will run mid 4's as well. At TX2K9, I'm going to put a driftbox into a mid 8-second Supra and see how that time compares. I think it will be in the 3's, which will put the record out of reach for all of us...

Your 4.51 was and is a phenomenal run for a manual car...but let's not forget you were running 15" drag slicks on a professionally prepped dragstrip when you did it. So far...all of my 60-130 runs have been done on the street near my house on the same 18" drag radials that I run everyday. Heck, I don't even lower my tire pressure.
Anyway, once I have some time...I'm going to put on some real rubber, crank up my boost...and make a serious attempt to finally beat that record of yours, bro.

There is no doubt that a 3.4/80 combo can easily do it under 4 seconds with no shifts. Peter, get someone in Tag's car that can drive on the hwy and get a number!Originally Posted by houstonT

I've got a Vbox here now, unfortunately Darin just flew out to Vegas. It may be fun to put one in the race cars, if they're doing the 1/8 in 4.20 @ 17X, it'd be interesting to see what the 60-130 time is Originally Posted by OhioGT2

Jamie - had Tag not missed the 2-3 shift twice last time we went out, the 4.51 would have fallen... We have another 60-130 event on 9/20 so hopefully the big dogs will show and take the record down...
Wes - I bet you anything that Darin would cut a LOWWWWWW 3......

Damn Supra guys. That Peter is a snappy one.

Just to clarify, I wasn't saying "whatever" to the statement that a 8-second Supra will run 3's. Of course it will.
I was saying "whatever" to Peter's statements above that.

Statements like "I was only running low boost"
"I couldn't hear the honk and took off when I thought you were going"
"I was only running 750 hp" etc....
Love this Forum! I hope to have some runs for this event as well... depends if Todd and Akram can get my car tuned with the new fuel system?? Oh yes, I will only run 700 hp LOL

You guys are crazy! To those of you who actually make "relevant power" (i.e. Scott, Rob, Jamie, Paul....no one else on page 5) you should know that you can only run as much power as your tires will hold. OH, and for reference, I only need 600 rwhp or so to convincingly pull Sean's 560 rwhp beast...
Hahahahah

^^^^^poor little Sean.
