Spare Tire Question

A member with a 997 tt had a flat and Porsche did not recommend driving the car with a spare tire, since the mismatched tires could break the AWD system.

If that is true, why are all 996 tt's and C4's equipped with a spare tire? Are we at risk if we drive a short distance (say 100 miles) on our spare?

I took mine out along with the compressor, the jack and all the tools. I figure my roadside assistance can tow me to wherever I need to go.

Funny....997TT don't even come with spares...just a can of fix-a-flat...Bob got a flat on our last ride....that is how we found out. You are OK with the spare for short amount of miles...I would probably flat-bed in any case.
