Nav For 02 996tt Questions?

I've read through a few threads about the nav options on the 02 996tt. Does the 02 996TT have fiber optic wiring? If so and i do decide to go after market would i have to rewire the entire car? I'm not looking to improve the sound system. I would like to have nav/mp3 and maybe bluetooth capabilities thats about it.

My guys put an Avid D3x in without issue....no new wires. I have Bose stuff. It is all working. Amps/speakers, etc. Sound is terrific to my ears.

Good luck.

JB

(I had PCM1....the dvd based Pioneer is amazing....and because it is a bigger market, updates abound...)

02 is NOT "MOST Bus" or fiber optic. Standard wired amps and head units were used.

Don't bother with Porsche nav...it is terrible.

sorry for the off topic but when did porsche introduce DVD based navigation? Or were they always DVD (instead of CDROM) based?

When you said no new wires, what wiring harness did you use? I am going to be putting in a new HU, replacing my PCM1, when I get home and trying to search the forums here for everything I need to have on hand to install it myself.

Thanks

here's a good link -

https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...6-cr220-2.html

Was a pretty easy install once I had all the parts together - the first stereo install I'd done and it turned out fine.

See the link for details/pics...
