I think I turned over all the right rocks, just coming back to haunt me now. That is what I meant. You know how it goes, same car driven for more than a week gets really old really quick

Personally, I am infatuated with the GT2 right now and I am contemplating making a move on one.

GT2 is the way to go...

I'm really surprised that more responses haven't focused on the bad Chi town weather and road quality and the fact that you said not much tracking... why not get a used x-50 (which is what an S really is only not used) and you have the benefits of looks, power, porsche, PSM, AWD, not too low, plenty of $ to mod before the price of GT-2. Having been to undergrad in that weather, I can't even imagine driving any porsche in that winter let alone a GT-2.

1. Buy a GT2. 2. Move somewhere warmer, with better roads. 3. Enjoy the GT2 and the Z8 with the top down (I stillwant one of those).

Because the way the GT2 delivers the "driving experience" is very different than an X50 Turbo. The lack of AWD makes the GT2 just an awesome driving experience!

I'd own a GT2 in the weather and roads of that area just for the experience of driving it on nice days, putting up with the bad weather characteristics of the GT2 just to get to those good days.

Just me though...

Lou,

There is no choice. You know which one is the better car.

Besides, get something different, you've already had 2 Turbos.

I would wager that if you ask anyone who has a GT2 if they regret it, or if they are dissatisfied, or if it is a disappointment, the large majority would answer quickly "no". It is a tremendous car that is very underrated in my opinion (of course I'm biased)

Lou a GT2 is a sweet ride, but your weather is like ours and it's not always sunny around here. I wanted a spyder originally, but I knew I wanted to drive the car whenever I wanted regardless of the weather. If you want a sports car you can drive anytime you'd like then get a TT. If you want a sunny day or weekend car go with the GT2.

Lou, if you're not going to track it, get the turbo. No contest.

Lou,
if resale value is the issue used GT2 is the way to go. not saying the Turbo S will not hold the value but the first owner is always gonna take the huge hit no matter what.

i love Porsche but i don't trust it anymore. last 993 Turbo S holds value pretty good cuz there are only around 180 cars out there. well, 996... we'll see.

You're in Chicago with bad roads, bad weather, the sensible choice = 996TT, no question.

But for me, in SoCal, OK roads, excellent weather = 911GT2, no question.

But since I'm a MadMan, even if I lived in Chicago, NY or Boston, I'd still get a 911GT2; no question.

some people say that the whole experience of pickin up teh car at the dealership and knowing your the first owner is worth that 40k
