Which car should I get, used GT2 or new Turbo "S"

Lou, if you're not going to track it, get the turbo. No contest.

Sorry Colorchange, never mind I misread your post! The GT2 rocks and is greatly underrated as it isn't that hard to drive fast once you get used to it. The turbo is softer and better for the street.

Lou, go for the turbo s. I drove a gt2 for a day (no more bashing luxury motors) and the clutch is really heavy and very annoying in city (i go there every day now). The ride is much bumpier to and not practical. The GT2 looks and performs better but turbo s is better overall cruising car. It is stupid to think the gt2 will hold its value. If it would, I would be driving one right now. I am sure you will get a good deal on either car and the depreciation is probably about $10k a year either way. Dan

It's too light and has no feel. My E30 325is clutch is much more consistent, and grabs so nicely during first gear startup.
I am pretty sure that if I ended up keeping the Turbo, I will have the clutch ripped out and put in the GT2 clutch.
Lou, First of all you will have a 7 series for rainy weather. The GT2 is still decent in the rain, as long as you aren't running 600plus HP. If you get the Turbo S, you're going to windup trying to make it look better with a techart nose, big wing, lowered.....hence trying to make it look and feel like a GT2, which it will never accomplish. GT2 gets my vote.

No doubt about it....GT2.
Just got mine...'03/Carrera White/Full Carbon Exterior package (optional on '04 at no cost).
Had '01 E46 M3. Got used to firm M3 clutch. GT2 clutch was perfect. TT clutch too soft for me.
I considered a '03 TTX50, but went with the GT2 after driving both.
Good Luck.

I'd own a GT2 in the weather and roads of that area just for the experience of driving it on nice days, putting up with the bad weather characteristics of the GT2 just to get to those good days.
Just me though...

Thanks everyone for the responses. I own a Z8 which is not an everyday. I want to keep that car forever. That said, my only reservation with the GT2 is the wheather....so lousy in Chicago sometimes. Regarding the drive etc, I much prefer the clutch of the GT2 and to be honest the ride is razor sharp which I love. DLM477, no offense, probably because it was from Luxury that the car felt f'ed up.
The clutch on the GT2 is so right and so is the handling. Again, my only hang up is ......Will I be able to get a lot of days of enjoyment out of the GT2?? Can it be driven as fast as a Turbo in Chicago? Keep the opinions coming you guys are helping a ton.
