ABS PSM Warning

This morning on my way to work both PSM and ABS warning lights come on. I immediately tested the system by braking and for sure the system was out – no ABS. By the time I started to curse like an orangutan that just lost his banana, lights went out and system was back on – 15 seconds in all. Any ideas? Car was fine for the rest of the day – no lights. .

Most likely culprit is a MAF sensor failing or MAF connector is loose.

rosesplus is infamous around these parts
I've recently experienced something similar but I got a low brake fluid light as well as the PSM/ABS. On restart all the lights were gone.

Another vote for faulty MAF sensor, I had the same thing under hard acceleration or cornering, traced to dodgy MAF sensor, caused by crappy Designtek intake. Pulled out that pile of junk, replaced standard airbox using a BMC filter and everything seems fine and dandy now.

This is the first I've heard that a bad MAF will actually DISABLE the ABS function (yes, I'd heard that it can trigger the ABS/PSM lights)

Interesting...

You need to get the codes read. I recently had this happen when the alignment was messed up and the steering angle sensor was out of spec. Basically, any sensor that is far enough out of spec that the car thinks the PSM may give erroneous readings can cause this pair of lights to go on.

When I blew a MAF it did the same thing, no ABS, both lights on.

Oh, before you buy a MAF, take it out and give it a good cleaning with maf cleaner, sometimes it works.

I had a problem with the brake warning sensor that triggered my abs/psm light as well although it could be a bunch of other reasons.

My car throws the lights all the time but I get codes from the front wheels speed sensors, I have changed both of them only thing I can think of would be a bad ABS control unit. Anyone ever run into that?

Not to mention my oil sender unit is now really playing up at the same time. Oil gauge drops to zero than goes to 5 bars and erratically does so. I also get instrument failure error in main display. What oil pressure are you guys getting under full throttle? This couldn’t be connected could it?
