This looks interesting - I can't quite tell how good the locking mechanism is...

My GT3 seats go in this week so I'd definitely be interested if anyone has experience with these as well.

Nice find. I'm also interested in GT3 seats and need easy access to the back seat. Subscribed.

That looks more like a mechanism for an ejection seat. Q would be proud.

Well, it is not FIA, but if you have a proper harness IT is braced by the bar, not the seat. So, not a big deal in my mind. I plan to get a few and use them with GT3 seats...the issue is where in the stack of goodies under the seat as the GT3 seats seem to be side mounted...I guess under the factory side adapters and over the sliders....perhaps a BK side adapter will be needed too (desireable anyway as they allow for fine tuning of tilt).

Anyway, looks like I might be the test pilot once I get the seats in a month or so.

Jeff, That doesn't look so safe, especially when starring at the possibility of a 150MPH mistake. That whole thought of "the harness holding you and the seat in place" is horribly flawed.

Take a look at some in-car of some of the accidents from HPDE events, and see how much the driver moves around when harnessed into a fixed back seat properly bolted in. Now imagine those two rear points with latches letting go and only having the front pivot/hing point to keep the seat in... You've just reduced any chance of the seat doing its job by a major factor...

If you don't want to make your wife a widow, you won't use that mount for HPDE.

Thanks Mike. I wonder if the steel in the kit has a higher strength than the bolts.....sometimes things can be deceptive. But I hear you...

I think I'll get the seats and email/mail sparco about the plates that tilt. They note on their site that they crash test everything...so I'll ask them about hard data and report back.

Jeff, Get in touch with a mechanical engineer and see what they tell you...

On a bike ride I came up wiht a solution...for DE days, just bolt the back together...and be done with it. You bolt the seat to the frame/slider anyway....do a few more high quality bolts. Done. So you cannot open the back.....just seal it. I can think of several ways to do this. I've welded and such in a past life (was Reynold 753/731 certified back in the day too....aging myself...ti tig too...). One could fix this problem.

I know this guy making parts on his brakes to fit bigger rotors... :-)

I wasn't going to ask this, but what the hell...

WHY don't you just install the GT3 seats before a DE and then take them out when you're not driving on the track? It's the fastest and simplest solution and retains the structure required for each seat to function in the manor that the FIA cert allows. Takes 10 minutes to remove both seats, 8 bolts, done.

The GT3 seats really aren't "that" comfy, and I'll be buying a set of sport seats for my car just to get the electronics/comfort back into the car if I keep it...

I might do just that...have to see what I think of them....I "like" tight and comfy....wife doesn't say anything when I talk about them. You probably know how that goes...

Meanwhile, does anyone have gt3 seats in their car, and have kids, and makes it work for them. Inquiring minds want to know.

The real issue is that the gt2 seats are 6k. If they were 2k, or even a clone of them was 2k and safe, no brainer......Porsche....lower the gt2 seat price please!

Called Sparco...spoke to a person who had been there 12 years.

No crash test data at all. For rally cars way back when made.

IN the end, he agreed with Mikelly but felt my bolt idea was good. He agreed that it was very beefy and bolts hold things in, so that would likely be ok. Not to say it would be a "tested" solution. So, don't go quoting him or me.

He noted my gt3 seats if bought would be 16" wide and this was 13" wide.

In the end, stock or a full solution. Nuff said. I have to thank Mikelly as his ideas/opinion were right on the money on this one. Thanks!

So,
