SpeedTech 70 to 75mm Y-Pipe

In response to some of the PM's received and in the interest of not hijacking Dans airbox thread, I will try to answer some of the questions regarding our Y-Pipe.

The Speedtech Y-Pipe is made of mandrel bent aluminum tubing and machined billet aluminum. It provides perfect fitment of the MAP sensor. Inlet tubes are 2 1/2" and they lead to a 75mm exit tube at the throttle body. The Pipe flows more air than the OEM Y-Pipe and will feed a 75mm TB a full 75mm of air vs the 68mm sized OEM Y-Pipe, which is significantly smaller than the 75mm TB. If you are running a 75mm throttle body with an OEM Y-Pipe, you are defeating the purpose of the larger TB.

If you are using upgraded turbos with the OEM Y-Pipe and OEM throttle body, this Y-Pipe will enable the increased air pressure of the larger turbos to reach the TB faster, with less restriction, increasing power and response. With the complete intake kit, you can run full 2 1/2" plumbing from the intercooler, to the Y-Pipe and deliver full air pressure with less restriction right to the throttle body opening.

For a Full 2 1/2" system - If you have B6 IC's you can cut the restrictive OEM style couplings off each end, weld on 2 1/2" diameter aluminum tubing and direct connect the SpeedTech 4-ply silicon hoses (this is what I have done and it works great) or if you have an intercooler with smooth end fittings, your ready to connect - either way, the system can and will provide a complete 2 1/2" tract from the turbo outlet, through the IC's, up the the Y-Pipe and deliver the air to the throttle body either in 68mm or 75mm diameter.

If you have stock IC's and stock style boost hoses, but would like to increase the flow of your Y-Pipe and/or adapt to a 75mm throttle body without the OEM TB "neck down", that is possible with just the Y-Pipe and the coupler kits for the throttle body and the OEM hoses.

Standard finish is polished aluminum.

Options are:

Y-Pipe Powder coating to match exterior body color
Custom color powder coating
Choice of boost hose color (if purchasing full 70mm kit)

This kit enables you to upgrade to a full 2 1/2" boosted intake system such as some of the custom high HP builds. With black silicon hose and a black powder coated Y-Pipe the appearance would be very OEM. The opposite of this is the ability to showcase the engine with a mix of colors, body color or a custom color ...the photo below shows the SpeedTech Y-Pipe in yellow. I hope I have answered all of your questions.

As always, we will offer special pricing for 6speed members as follows:

Y-Pipe w/ 2 1/2" legs to standard 68mm Throttle body or larger 75mm throttle body: $799.00 (specify TB size)
Couplers for TB and boost hoses (required for connection to OEM hoses - red, blue or black): $75.00
Add powder coating (basic color): $99.00
Custom powder coating (such as candy apple red, black chrome): $199.00
Full 2 1/2" Kit including all hoses from IC to TB (standard finish, with choice of red, blue or black hose color): $1125.00

shotcaller,

We dynoed with it today and experienced a roughly 30HP gain over a previous dyno, however, we feel that part of the increase was due to cooler weather today and part to the larger intake. We also gained 350 RPMs of earlier turbo spool-up. Here is a picture of the dyno.

The Y pipe looks great John. And I love the Vivid Air Box. Makes me want to pull out the credit card and spend a little Good luck.

Any idea why both Torque lines and HP lines meet at 4500RPM?

Sounds like a solid product for a resonable price.

BlackBear,

Thanks, I agree with you, as those are my thoughts, exactly...I feel it's a lot of upgrade for the money. I have previously spent roughly 3 times this amount to achieve 70mm flow from the turbos to throttle body.

For a k16/16G, K24/18G, GT28 or other larger turboed car that is flowing more air than the OEM pieces were designed for - I think it would only help these kits produce more power - while looking good in choice of color :-)

You're reading the graphs wrong, torque1 vs torque2 and power1 vs power2. The blue lines are torque and power are the red lines.
