Change coilpacks when changing plugs?

Would you recommend changing coilpacks when changing spark plugs. My car is an 02 with 13K miles and shows no faults or misfires, but I am going to change my plugs and it seems like it's an opportunity to change the coils since they will be easily accessible at the time. That said I'd rather wait if it's an unnecessary precaution.

Do deteriorating coils affect performance or are coils basically in a good or bad state with no in-between where they are somewhat working but not at optimum?

It's an electrical part. It can be bad one minute and good the next!!! They're about $60-$70 each. If you think $350-$400 is cheap insurance...go for it. I had 1 go bad on the dyno, replaced it and left the rest...I'm still good. FYI...I had about 45k miles on the one that went.

I didn't change them when I did my plugs, and I have had no problems. With the miles you have on your car, you should be fine IMO.

If doing coils separately, is the labor to change them the same as to change plugs?
