shift handle
Pry the plastic ring that meets the center console up with your fingernails or plastic pry tool. Then lift the boot up and you'll either be able to pull the handler right off the shifter, or you may need to spin it counterclockwise to get it separated. Takes no tools and about 30 seconds.
i think there might be a small>>>
set screw or grub screw on the underside of the shifter **** itself that needs to be loosened. i believe it is a small allen head screw. if i recall correctly.
The set screw is only on certain types of shift *****...so if you have the standard shift ****, there is no set screw. It does take some force....it will release quickly...don't hit yourself in the face.
If it's the type that's just pressed on with a friction fitting, try rotating it as you pull upwards, but keep your teeth and nose out of the way when it lets go....a few guys have had to see their dentist after one of these sessions.
