front license plate removal ??

I thought this relevant: I was out front of my house today when a parking enforcement dude (in one of those silly carts) stops out front and writes tickets for two cars parked on the street right out front of my house.
I couldn't see anything wrong with the way the cars were parked so I asked, "uhhh, why'd those cars get a ticket?"
His reply: "No front license plate!"
It must be another crack-down in Palo Alto but I was a bit surprised they would come two blocks out of the commercial district and ticket cars on a residential street (College Avenue if you know the area).
I couldn't see anything wrong with the way the cars were parked so I asked, "uhhh, why'd those cars get a ticket?"

The same thing happened to me last week . . . I received a parking ticket for no front plate. Interestingly, the meters on the street only required money until 6 pm, and I received my ticket at 9:45 pm, which means the meter maid was not looking for meter violations.
