JIC Coilover Questions
JIC Coilover Questions
I have a set of refurbished JIC Magic coilovers. What parts do I need to have them installed? Do I need drop links? Any recommendations on settings (it will be only for street use)?
Thanks!
Thanks!
How can you tell the difference? Is anyone using the real Mcoy's on their turbo. How do you like them?
They were refurbished by JIC Magic so I assume they are real. I don't really know that much about them other than what I have read here. I have the four coilovers. I was wondering if they attach using the OEM parts or if I needed any special parts; such as drop links. I have read some people say they just attach using the existing hardware. Then I have read that I need drop links. I am just trying to determine what parts an installer will need so I can get them installed.
if you're gonna run GT2 ride-height or something similar, you'll need aftermarket drop-links as the ones in the kit are not adjustable and too long.........I'm using JIC/CROSS and they're a good balance for street and light track duty.......but you'll need the front links as the ones in the kit keep the sway bar dangerously too close to the lower control arms and they'll clunk......
ps....a GT-2 spec alignment and a corner balance is the icing on the cake

Yes the drop links that come with the suspension are cheesy anyway. I put some drop links on the car from Dan they are a nice way to go, they are bent a little to avoid hitting on the control arms and the mount in a different location. But I set the car up gt2 ride height for the customer and he wanted it a little lower, Have you had you car set up gt3 specs it 6 mm lower in the front and 8 mm in the rear? Have not found anyone that has done this yet.

You will also need to modify the rear shock tower cover on the inside...the JIC's stick out more than the OEM so the rear shelf either needs to be removed or cut (4x4 piece on each side) If you haven't done it before, have a shop do it...you really need a lift and get full access and positioning the drop links are a pain, even for my shop
So.. let me see if I have this right. For the install I will need to also get 2 front drop links. Is that correct? Any recommendations on where to get them (TRG? what is there web link?)..?
Do I need anything else? I would like to have everything together before I take it to a shop to be installed. I don't want to have to wait for other parts to be ordered etc.
Thanks.

just your shocks, and a pair of front adjustable drop links. I bought Tarrett drop links and they've been great , but TRG makes them, AP etc........
that's all you'll need for your situation

JIC's.
Agency Power front and rear. TRG are superb too, but more money.
I added H&R adjustable sways at the same time....if you are doing the shocks, and drop links, it seems pretty silly to me to not add the sway bars....cheap in the big picture.
Then you MUST do a corner balance. I went to gt2 spec and have not had a problem.

(PS: I got all of the above stuff from Dan. Works great. Less floating.
