How to convert 996tt shifter to 997tt ?

I am looking to convert my 996tt shifter assy to a 997. What parts are needed, any place other then the dealer to get ?

I would like to change out the stick, boot, shifter housing and perhaps the rubber bushing by the tranny to help reduce the loos'ness inherant to them. I have a 20% reduction oem stick in there. I tried the B&M, too much force in shifting for everyday driving.

I just feel that the 996's dont have a solid feel as do many others that I have tried.

Thx !

Many here have done the 997 shifter upgrade. Here is a link to the shifter from Suncoast.. http://e-partssales.com/Merchant2/me...ode=996tttrans

The one above is what others have used, but doesn't iclude several of the parts you mentioned. For $169, it seems very reasonably priced.

I did this mod with an upgraded 997 shift console from Suncoast. By far, this is the best $170 I have spent on my car. Installation is easy and the result is a much more direct shifting without any of the "notchiness" associated with the stock linkage.

Highly recommended mod.

Hey Dean!

It was nice speaking to you on the phone today. If anyone was in need of instructions for installation, the B&M instructions are pretty good:

And for anyone wanting a B&M shifter assembly, I'm replacing mine with one of these 997 units, and will be selling the B&M for $100+shipping...

Just changed to the 997 shifter a few weeks ago, much nicer, went to the
B&M site and used their instructions. Called my local Porsche dealer parts
guy and they had a 997 take off that a guy had swapped out for a short shift
charged me $100 for it, basically brand new, you might try the same.
