Remember that there are 1st gen PCCB brake and second generation. Most people think that the 1st gen units are not worthwhile due to reliability issues.

Otherwise, X50 with PCCB is comparable to turbo S. I Will say that Turbo S cars are relatively low production and they may command serious $$ down the road.

I know that 993 GT2s and Turbos S cars command a serious premium.

Agree with Aaron, supple looks like $hit and wears much worse. Stay away from supple and go for sport seats.

Turbo S comes with the 2nd Gen PCCB brakes as standard. I'd take the coupe because it's much rarer than the cab. Mine was a coupe and had no complaints with it except for the fact that it was a TIP but that's another subject all together.

Turbo S also came with the fat steering wheel as standard. Much better than the skinny one. Had the sport seats on it and they were much better than the supple in my older '03 turbo.

like I said, if you are looking to stay stock, go with the S, if you are looking to mod like most in here, you will be replacing most everything on the car anyway, so go with the better deal.
You are forgetting about the PCCB ($10K value) and the fact that the S is an 05 and not an 03 and in many cases even still has a warranty.

get rid of both seats and get GT3 seats.

once you heavily mod a car, it's value will never be the same. Also, once you heavily mod a car, people will know how you used it and it's value will never be the same. S is a nice name that is all.

true, I was comparing the same year, I think if you do a across the board comparo, the difference in value will only go up in later years. I am comparing S or X50 to std. Again, I saw differences as high as 20k in 03 and as low as 11k, but the norm was 11 to 15k. If you are willing to travel there are plenty of both. In any case, my point is and has been that if you are going to keep it basically stock and never plan on building a high hp car, and you can afford the extra go for it. However, if you want the most bang for your buck, it is impossible to argue with a 15k difference in price. The amount that you can do to a std for 15k will make walk a stock S. you can keep on bringing up options, but in the end, everyone mods their car and changes those nice little options the car came with.

WhippieDaddy is infamous around these parts
I'll also be modding my S at some point...

But I'm not in a hurry since I have a warranty I want to maintain. In the eight months I've had the car, I've saved almost $3K with warranty coverage - I've had the power steering reservoir control valve replaced (as specified in a TSB) and both radiator fans replaced.

I'm pretty happy with the warranty right now...

I do agree with what Prche951 says. The extra $$ for the S can be well spent on mods on a base TT.

Ok, Here is what I wanted to say. I am far more into mods than most of you think. I have owned an eclipse GSX, 97 M3, 04 M3 and all were highly modified, to the point that I have had issues passing smog in CA.

The Coupe is a 05 Turbo with PCCB and the Porsche Aero Kit and all the goodies such as sport shifter, steering and, it is located in Las Vegas and I can pick it up and check it out myself.

The Vert is also an 05 is a TurboS located in Texas (owned by dealership owner). It also has all the goods but with about 5K price premium.

My planned mods,
Hitachi MAF and intake.
SpeedTech exhaust.
Suspension moving to coilovers
ECU upgrade

and maybe later (if the wife does shot me first) upgraded turbos K24/18G wheel combo.

Thanks again for all the feedback, I really appreciate your input and finer points about the car. Also I see a few threads about the second gear popups. Any thoughts on that?

Cheers,
-Arman

I'd say that if you are going to upgrade turbos, then go with the std. $5k will get you maf, exhaust and coil overs. you are then more likely to convince the wife that all you need is a tune and K24/18's for just a few bucks more.

Check mine out.
05 996ttS cab red Protomotive tuned.
She comes with a Protomotive tune through the softronic cable and I have 2 files I can upload into the car, 1 race file for 93 and one 12boost file for 104+. I think Todd K would do your k24/18g re-flash for $300. Initial tune cost me 3k + $300 for cable. New Fabspeed maxflow gen 3 exhaust. The car should be making in the neighborhood of 545 at the crank. Let me know what you think.

PS-I have also heard the S comes with the gt2 fuel system and a beafier/stronger gear box and or clutch. Don't quote me but that is what I heard. As mentioned before Robertp knows lots about the Turbo S.

GT-2 Fuel system = marginally higher volume pump. $500.00 (tops) and the "S" gearbox is not different. The GT2 has a trans-cooler not the "S" ~ Unless you're running the car with a STG4+ in a HOT climate (Texas Hot) then the larger IC's aren't worth much, either. It all adds up, and has value, but not unless you're going to run the car for EXTENDED periods of high-output. GT2 "box" has steel synchros for 3, 4, 5 as I recall. Again, your race shops will tell you that you'd get more mileage out of billet shift forks vs steel synchros. Steel synchros at high RPM's will not save you (or your transmission) from missed shifts when the engine output is cresting 400-500HP/TQ at the crank. Remember this: Dodge had to redesign their Viper transmissions because Chrysler has NOTHING on the shelves that could handle 500LB/FT of torque. That's an 8+ Liter motor. Porsche is no different. You miss and nothing that the trans has in it will keep the gears from grinding right off.

this has been discussed in the past. There is no difference in fuel systems. The pump is the same.

The trans on the S is the same as std. Neither of which has the GT2 cooler.
