Seriously do NOT trust the discount tire kids. Most of them know like nothing about our cars (I know it can vary location-to-location).

The set-up you are running is about 2% off (theoretical) with the rears being bigger to start....they have likely worn and may be fairly close diameters at this point...so I doubt you fried the front diff. It would be prudent to purchase tires that are a better fit. As suggested the 315/25 -19 rears go nicely with the 235/35-19. These are about 1% different with the fronts slightly larger (I believe this is the side you should error on....)

He said he was aware that many folks run 19's on early turbos, but that they could not sell or even service a front tire on 19-inch wheels for liablity reasons (he said the load rating was not even close!). He said the load rating for 19-inch rear tires are fine, but the front is where the problem is. He commented that I ought to try a non-national chain and see if they would sell me the front tires in 235/35/19.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 225/40 18 N1 has a service description of 88Y (1235 lbs) while the 235/35 19 XL PS2 has a service description of 91Y (1356 lbs). The 997 oe version has a service description of 87Y which is lower, however the difference between 87Y and 88Y is 34 pounds.

Thanks guys. I'm either going to go for the 235/35 and 315/25 set up, or just ditch these wheels and try to find a nice set of used stock wheels.

Oh, believe me, I would like nothing more to call up Wheel Enhancement and order up some nice champion RG-5's, but then I would not be able to enjoy them because I would be dead after my wife realized what I did after dropping a bit of coin on the new car! Thanks again for all of your help, you guys have been awesome!
