The "last" old-school turbo
At the local dealer's 997 unveiling party last night, someone mentioned the new turbo and GT-3 will finally abandon the old school motor for ones derived from the M96 motor (or at least, will not use the old oil-cooled with water cooled heads motor now in the turbo/GT3).
Assuming this is true, does this make the 996TT the LAST turbo model based on the old racing-developed motors, and therefore a tad resistant to rampant depreciation once the 997 Turbo comes out? In other words, REALLY the last "air cooled" turbo, instead of that being the 993 TT?
I know, it is a pipe dream, but a nice one...

The TT and GT3 engine cases are really the last thing reminiscent of the 993 and earlier cars, and have shown to be quite durable. I think that alone will save some of your value but i hope Porsche quality will not go the way of 996/boxster design. It sure seems that Porsche is heading towards 100,000mile throwaways. Maybe i'm wrong... i've been working on Porsches for many years and love the marque but have been disapointed by much of the build quality post 993 even though performance gains, electronics and drivability have become very refined.
