Rpm "blip" under hard acceleration when shifting...normal?
Hey guys, I've had my new-to-me 01 for just about 2 weeks, and I just installed new tires and a clutch kit (oem). I have a question about something, and I just want to make sure it is normal as I don't have a lot of seat time in turbos other than this car.
When I shift under hard accelaration (.6-1.1 bar of boost), I notice that often the rpm's will jump after pushing the clutch in. Is this normal, or am I trying to shift too fast or not getting off the gas early enough before hitting the clutch? My car has an evo flash (not sure which one) with evo diverter valves and intake. Thanks!

Could very well be. I've got a cadaver ACL in my right knee, and sometimes the leg has a mind of its own. But seriously, it very well may be that I'm staying on the gas a little long when I push in the clutch, but I thought I'd throw the question out to the board to see if anyone else had this issue. Also, its seems to me like there is an inordinate amount of "blow off" noise when I get off the throttle (the "swwooooosh" sound). I'm pretty sure this is normal too, but the other turbos I've driven (non-modified) didn't seem to make this much noise when the pressure blows off (Its almost like my neighbor's supercharged mustang, which is REALLY loud when he lets off the throttle).

I think what you are referring to as a blip between up-shifts may have more to do with the E-gas system than your foot. I have noticed the same thing in my car. No harm done. The blow off valve swooshing is not something I have ever heard in my car, and I have aftermarket upgrades. I'm wondering if one of your hoses may have become unseated. Couldn't hurt to check it out.
