Keep your heads down Florida guys
Hey Guy, I think we are far from every Floridian living in mobile homes and wooden houses.
Modern building codes have made homes safer over the years (and a lot more expensive) with increased elevations, hurricane resistant glass/ storm panels, and hurricane straps for the roofs. Dade county probably has some of the toughest code around, but building codes vary by county. Mobile homes will never be resistant to the types of forces seen in hurricanes, but not everybody can afford a modern concrete block home. Some of the old wooden Florida homes have been around for over 100 years and have weathered several hurricanes.

yeah Ivan definitely seems to be on it's way to FL...
of course it can change but I think you are about to get at least a little bit no matter how it turns...
if it stays on this course we're definitely getting hit in Charleston....
160MPH....jesus christ.....we're in for a big storm if it stays like this, and it will make Frances look like a joke....and that's sustained...that means gusts of prolly 180+ mph...

if you go on Watches/Warnings you can see what I am talking about...
it's the best website I've seen with hurricane information....
let's keep our fingers crossed that it doesn't it...
