What is really amazing is looking at this and then looking at what Porsche gets people to pay for a new 997 pdk or boxster...

Wow it's remarkable that people are paying so much money for new cars that don't even compare in this price range:/

Where did you get auction prices from? Would be nice to be able to buy
at those kind of prices without being a dealer.

Any figures for 01 and 02?

I would really appreciate as my leasing company is willing to let me buy my car from them at wholesale auction prices.

I got the info here:
http://www.mbworld.org/forums/c-clas...anheim-14.html
They are few people that they can get you in the auction with them and typical they charge a fee of $300-$700 to buy the car for you.
When i spoke with my friend at Paul Miller Porsche he was telling me that they price will continue to slid for few more months. If i can get a 2005 Turbo S cab for $50k I will be all over that!!!!

IF everyone could buy them at that price we would, but that dose not include all the fees. Most dealer put out this kind of money right now will not sell them with making some kind of profit.
We would all love to buy them for that amount but lets be real only 1 or 2 cars that come from the auction are any good. There is a reason they are at the auction. Auction cars never hold and value just like lease returns. Buying high end cars from private seller " is the only way to buy"

That's crazy to see prices drop so low...but most of those 35k-45k cars have average or below condition report. Its easy to find a turbo for that price but a good car (cosmetically and mechanically..no over revs etc.) is very hard to come by. I spent almost 4 months looking for a car and finally found the one ..

Auctions have their pros and cons.

Dealers take cars to auction to dump them when they can't sell them on their lot.

I will tell you this from my personal experience, you will not find a single decent 996TT at the auction that is worth buying without paying top dollars for them. These people are not idiots and they know exactly how much their cars are worth that is what they do for living. These prices does not tell you what kind of condition these cars were in. Before I bought my car at the dealership, my dealer friend and I went to the every auction in SoCal area for 3 months and I did NOT find a single car that was worth buying, the ones I wanted to buy were sometimes sold for more expensive than their current market value. I have seen cars passing through auction lanes on a tow truck because they did not run or were heavily damaged at the Menhein auction in Riverside, these prices do get registered but again unless you see the cars yourself you have no way of knowing what was sold for that price.
