nope. wilber kinda freaked out after the mechanic told him about the turbos being burned out.

but no, the turbos are still the same and in excellent condition.

the problem at the time was the stock clutch being worn out, which is why the car now has a Porsche Motorsports GT2 race clutch/pressure plate.

Tyson, Let me get this straight. So they diagnosed a bad clutch for a set of bad turbos? I gotcha! Remind me not send my turbo there! That's funny because he mentioned the fried clutch also.

Matt, we can do this and still have some fun. Who knows, I may get beat. You can imagine my rage when I learned from two official GIAC representatives that Garrett would not remove the 1.3 bar restriction on my car after I offered to pay a GIAC representative to do this. Actually, he would but not until after the shootout. I was not looking for any tuning, just to remove or change a certain code. Hey, they advertise to do this work and I have used the services of three different tuners. You would think from his response that I was in direct competition against GIAC. I guess I could sue for descrimination. What a waste of time. I would rather provide some free advertisement that everyone can watch. GIAC's present best versus the car GIAC is afraid of helping.

Like I said, this is nothing against you or your company. It has everything to do with Garrett, GIAC and the way they do business. If you are the fastest street legal 996tt they presently have available, then that is what I would like to run against.

NO... while working on the clutch and going over the car, they told wilber that he needed new turbos.

there was nothing wrong with the turbos.

So now you want to pick on me too, Oak? What's up with that, man?

Are you going to say that your car is faster than mine too?

cjv,

That is truly unfortunate considering that Todd Z. @ EVO is a really nice guy. He even spent the time to go over my car with me yesterday...

I hope we both show GIAC who's really the best and force them to go back to tuning Honda Civics.

It is nice to be faster on any given day. I will be the first to admit my present car has been beat in the past. So what, I go ahead a make some more changes.

As for Hamann's car or any other car, who cares how many times they have changed parts. I have changed my turbo's four times and I am presently having special turbo housings casted for both the hot and compressor side. Who knows, they may be great or they may be bust. I hate to think of how many times I have changed other parts or the parts have broke.

I have always shared what information I have acquired with anyone who has asked. So what if someone uses it. What I have enjoyed most is someone raising the bar and then coming back and raising the bar myself. Anyone who believes there are not disappointments and problems along the way is not living in the real word.

well said chad, as long as those real word [s] come "directly from his mouth"!!!!

guys, quit comparing how long they are and WHIP THEM OUT!!!
Regis is gonna blow yo doors ***** yo-yo right off!!!

chad has been very forthcoming and open with the trial and tribulations of the development curve way way out there in the land of diminishing returns, but he's getting return on investment of some kind, and i admire his tenacity.

let's stay friends, but go whip them out and then agree whose is longest!!!!! Regis is king at lickin' it and he will do some kickin' it.

btw, feel free to direct all negative energy at me for poking fun at you until the matter is settled

Oak,

I am not "claiming" anything. Like I said, I have been beat (more than once). It won't be the last time either. I look at it like some people are more proud of their cars than others. It doesn't bother me at all.

It's just like the day Dave Colman ran my car at Infineon. You should have seen the smiles and giggles when they saw 11.4. The funny thing was at the end of that day it was the fastest licensed street car there. Like I said, for that day.

My grip is with Garrett and his company GIAC. Is he so insecure with his company that everything on your car or certain parts must be "pure" GIAC? This is somewhat like what happened with EVOMS and their larger injectors. I offered to buy them, but they refused to sell them to me. I give EVO credit for being the first I know of to have them for the 996tt motor. When I could not get them from EVOMS I searched until I found them. Larger injectors for the 996tt can be obtained from RV Engineering in Torrence Calif. at the cost of $185. per injector. As Todd later said. "I knew it was only a matter of time before others found out." Some people just don't understand that if you don't continue to change, you die. The constant change is what keeps you competitive, not holding your cards close to your chest.

When I first bought my 996tt. I dispised all the secrecy. I hope and kind of believe, that I have helped destroy this mentality. Personally, I refuse to do business with anyone who operates this way. The sooner others follow, the sooner we will all have better running 996tt's at reasonable prices.

Chad...

I respect you very much and can't believe GIAC, Garrett and his company would NOT want to sell to you. If anything, they might get to be associated with your car one day. I guess that's out the window.

It's really sad how some people operate their business

Chris,

Thanks for the kind words. You are correct, it is sad. It's pathetic. I went to two authorized GIAC representatives inquiring if they could remove or modify upward the 1.3 bar limitation. They both came back with the same story. Garrett would do it, but only after the shootout. This ought to make all GIAC owners feel real good about their product. Imagine, by just changing the boost limitation my car is going to eat the Stage V alive. Or at least that is what he seems to be in fear of.

Garrett heard about my car. Heard that it was going to be in a shootout with the EVO Stage V (which I understand GIAC did the ECU work). He was asking them questions about the car and if it was "for real." All he had to do was read the forums, he could have found out anything he wanted. In addition Chris, you are correct, he would have received credit if he in fact solved the problem. I have always given credit to the companies doing the work.

Oh well, we will solve this problem without GIAC's assistance. Garrett can rest assure I will do my best to trounce anything that has "GIAC inside."
