1.6 bar in 3rd gear
Like I said, sometimes all you have to do is ask.
As far as the Ruf car goes, it's not that they underestimate the hp, it's the consistency of the power through the powerband.
You are gonna be pretty happy with the Stage 5, it suits your purposes well. There are just some of us who want something a bit more unique and custom-tailored.

I believe you have hit the nail on the head!! I will be very happy with my Stage 5 and you and CJV and others are happy with something more custom-tailored. Different strokes for different folks!

The Stage V setup is clean. Wilber, Todd Z, and I were checking out the Turbos and headers up close last weekend and basically Todd engineered some nice brackets and fittings so that it bolts up to the factory oil lines, etc.
On top of that, it doesn't require the custom plumbing. Frankly, I like my free flowing intake system, but it took a lot of custom fabrication...

Watt,
If I remember it is another 15K or so on top... I'm not sure it is available in the upgrade program. When I had dinner with alois ruf he mentioned that the Nardo package was very special, and not for everyone. It was his nice way of saying that in his opinion there is often too much car for the given driver. He also said he didn't recommend it for RWD cars. He had been driving the Nardo engine with someone famous (a driver) who spun ALL FOUR WHEELS in 3rd gear of the AWD car under heavy acceleration...
Ruf cars are in a league of their own as far as I'm concerned.

When are we going to put these "big dogs" on a dyno next to each other???
thanks dean and tyson, nardo sounds like it for TT
and ken,
Regis couldn't have said it better!! Such a touch you have with code, so elegant, concise and vituperativly gut ripping, but missing the point!!! it only counts in actual performance, not the dyno bench.
Before Regis got into exclusive tuning, he was in the mining business hence his expression:
"wino's and dyno's and dingbats from Butte [Montana, that is, a copper town]" when referring to dyno bench bozos.

Chad, I thought your car was getting a MOTEC? If so why do you need GIAC tuning? Not to point out the obvious but, you have gone down a road with another tuner and you want GIAC to fix a small issue in your programming. To me it is sounds something like this: you purchase a GE washing machine and realized that it doesn’t offer you the high boost fast washing cycle which you want. You decide to go to the Maytag store and ask them if they can install this high boost feature on your GE machine. Does this make sense? I am not saying that one brand is inferior to the other, either one could be GE or Maytag, the point is you want an option that the other one has and you want it installed on your machine.
I have read through some of these posts and all I can say is COME ON. “My car is better than yours” and “mine is faster” and “mine has this” and “mine has that”, mine “smells better” ……….. I can understand the desire to want more power and the quest to be on top but this all sounds like a bit much. On one hand you want the help from GIAC and on the other you are bad mouthing them. “Maybe I should sue them for discrimination????????? This has been escalated to a new level. Why all the anger?
I told you from the beginning with this whole “shoot out” EVO/PES/IA we are not going through this to be an all out slugfest. I told you that I am all for a friendly shootout and I could care less if we win or lose. All we want out of it is exposure for our Stage V car. Remember, I never challenged you, and don’t want a challenge. Publicly according to you, your car makes more power…I know this going into it and don’t care one way or the other.
Finally, why is necessary to bad mouth and bash someone that you are trying to get help from? To me it seems like a bad approach and a phone call works better. I highly doubt that some of these words would have been exchanges over the phone or face to face for that matter.
