Anyone here have an 05- Turbo S on-order?
Subscribeyou guys are
... $15k discounts on '05 Turbo S. rofl... why on earth would Porsche discount these cars when they are limited production, and haven't even hit showroom floors yet? That would be business suicide. It is a simply issue of supply and demand, the limited supply and large demand allows them to sell at retail price, or with a premium. The BMW M3 has been out since '01 and still sells at full sticker.
People who are saying they are getting these discounts are the same kind of people who claim they are getting BMW 645ci at sticker when it first came out.
If anything, the TurboS will be selling with a premium at most dealers, and loyal customers who have bought 3-5 Porsches from a dealer might get one at sticker, or a few Ks off if lucky.
... im sure the same people will be getting $5-10k off the Ferrari 430 when it comes out too....

I always laugh when I hear that someone will get $10 - 15K off of new Porsches.
Be advised that only ~ 250 2004 tt's were made for this past year. My dealer had an allotment for 2 cars. The 2005 tt are also in limited production and typically spec out per buyer request, not per dealer anticpation of what will sell. The cars are rare and will not be given away.
Used tt's are a different story.

I definately do not think that 10-15k off of a new Porsche is unreasonable. When i purchased my 03 in Jan of 03, i got it for 10k off list. Now granted i think it was one of the first ones the dealership sold, but irregardless, it was 10k off.
Now when placing an order, it could be a different story.

I'm not calling BS on you, but IIRC the markup on a 996TT allows for about $15k of profit in a sale at MSRP. With a $10k discount, the dealer is only making ~$5k in profit on a cash deal... most dealers would laugh at this offer. Now, if you got an X50 with full carbon trim, etc, and your window was around $150k then I could see a discount like you claim to be somewhat possible, but then again, why would a dealer discount a car this much when it can easily be sold close to list for a great profit. Did you trade in a car when you bought the TT? Are you leasing it?Originally posted by NJPete996TT

There is a reason the cars are limited, so the dealer can move them close to list, make a great profit, and be able to discount other cars close to invoice ( ie a 911 Carrera in burgandy that wont sell, etc.) I dont know what it is like outside of California, but dealers dont have a problem selling these cars, and they dont need to discount them much to sell them either. I guess if you go to the Porsche dealer in Wisconsin in your Sorel boots and wool scarf to give some poor salesman his first deal of the month on the 29th day they might take $10k off list for you.
have one for november delivery...
ps: a discount is possible

I believe the guy was refering to getting $15k off list of an 04 turbo cab, not the turbo S. I can tell you first hand that and more is possible becuase yesterday I bought a new 2004 Turbo Cab that listed at $139k, for $123k and got the retail buy rate of 3.79% from one of their lenders(Harris Bank)Originally posted by Matt Fresh

Well my dealer told my dad that he would knock 13k off the sticker of a new 2004 TT cabriolet, and then when we inquired about the TT S a few months later he offered us 7500 off, we didnt even have to really do anything other than ask him. I'll admit i was a little surprised at this but oh well we will take what we can get!Originally posted by Matt Fresh

BTW its normally not a good idea to make generalizations like you did because the World has a funny way of always makeing it so you are wrong when you do. (just a thought)
i guess there are some weak-suck salesman/dealers out there starving to sell 996TTs.

From the tone of your posts you are clearly either 1) a poor negotiatior or 2) a car salesman and a poor negotiator.Originally posted by Matt Fresh

just to add my .00002 cents...
Two years ago I bought a brand new 03 Boxster w/MSRP $51K and bought it for $43K. Granted it is no TT, but if I could get $8K (ie near or at invoice) a Boxster...
Also, I think the MSRP is only part of the equation. Factor a trade in, and you can magically get "10%" off MSRP after they take you to the cleaners on said trade in. Especially for people that lease- what the heck does MSRP mean, really?
