clutch replacement

I have an 01 996tt with some mods. I would say somewhere in the 550hp to 600hp power range. Would an gt2 clutch work or should I spend more for an stage 3 clutch which some manufacturers recommend. If so what would be a decent make for the price.

My car had three clutches put in by the time we found the "right" clutch.

I ended up with the same clutch that Kevin at UMW sells... It's the Clutchmasters Kevlar refaced sprung disk with a Sachs Motorsports 999 with the modified Fulcrum pivot that Clutchmasters does.

My car is making about the same power as yours. However, the installer was a "GIAC GOLD STANDARD" tuner. He'd never experienced the level of torque and power that my car puts down and hands down didn't believe the car would make more power with the UMW tune than his GIAC tune. So the installer put in what he thought I'd need. He was wrong. Three clutches later, we have the same identical kit UMW sells, and Kevin didn't even get the sale. I owe kevin, since he guided my mechanic on resolving my issues.

All that said, if you do have the clutch replaced, go ahead and get the EVOMS GT2 clutch hydraulics kit installed:

You'll need it, trust me.

Ditto. I have all of the above stuff...went to Kevin. Then the accumulator stuff....I am quite pleased.

UMW clutch kit (mine with a light weight flywheel too...964RS I think).

GT2 clutch kit (EVOMS via IA).

Car sings now. Labor is steep...so do it all at once if you can swing it..will save 500 to 1000 dollars in all likelihood.

Search. The GT2 clutch is less boosted. Flywheels make noise when at idle. Etc.
