IMO, cars are depreciating assets that are mean to be driven.

The amount of fun I loose by driving it all year round is worth the slight hit in resale.

Let's face it - resale on these cars sucks so why not drive it.

I hate looking at my cars sit in a garage. I buy them to drive them.

If you get salt on it, wash it off. If you bend a rim on a pothole, get a new one. Who cares.

If you love it that much, you'll drive it in the snow. You have it backwards

I'm about to get into mine right now. It's a balmy 16 degrees. At least compared to yesterdays MINUS 26.

I have an E55 daily driver, but it hasn't left the driveway in weeks.

I have to admit, I bought mine to drive, not as a DD, but to enjoy whenever I want, year round. The car is currently filthy and I am going to drive it again today and it probably won't get above 15deg (it's -2 now). I now realize the importance of winter tires. These summer tires are sh*t in cold weather!!! Especially at this power level. Although it seems impressive to blow my tires away at 80mph, certainly takes away the fun factor and the reason I built the car.

Note to self...buy blizzaks.

Imolas54 - when you start looking at the car as something you bought for pure enjoyment (forget all about the "investment" because isn't not going to be worth much when you're done with it) you'll get less stressed about driving it in different condition.

The only time I don't drive mine intentionally is if I'm going to a restaurant where the only good option is valet. I will NOT valet a car ever.

call Damon at Tirerack check out Pirelli snowsport 240s, I really like them..should be on a 10inch rear rim, 265/35/18 and 225/40/18 and you might want a 15mm or close rear spacer.

These cars with AWD were definitely meant to be driven in snow. And I would love to do this, but in the Denver/Springs are we have a major issue. When it snows they do not lay down salt mix. They lay down Mag Chloride mix. And from what I am told this stuff eats up rubber and plastic. So as much as I like to drive in the snow, I won't do it in this car. I have a few other AWD's for that; an F150 supercrew and a CayenneS.

Valet mode

I feel the same way, but was wondering if you have ever used the valet mode (i believe it limits speed) when no other option is available.

I bought the Pirellis from Tirerack on inexpensive MSW wheels. Embarassingly I have the same wheels on my TT, my E55 and my, uh, Prius.

Naw, that's just the little beep to let you know you hit a certain speed right? It doesn't actually limit the speed.

Ok, I was the OP seven years ago so how about a zombie resurrection thread. Anyone have that video of a TT in the snow to share?
